21 month behaviour change

My little girl is 21 months old and is usually very happy! She used to love going to nursery in the baby room, she had a really good relationship with her key caregiver but has been moved to the toddler room just over a month ago. She goes 3 days a week. When I drop her off she now screams the place down and when I pick her up, she is in floods of tears when she sees me and can’t get home quick enough. When we used to go shopping she would wave and giggle at everyone but she is now shy and turns away if strangers try to interact with her. This has extended to family members, she cries when she sees male family members and wants sit on my knee. She has stopped saying hello or bye bye on FaceTime to grandparents as well. Me and my parent are really worried about the sudden change in her behaviour.

She’s started shouting at her baby dolls and smacking which she never used to do.

Has anyone experienced similar things when moving rooms at nursery?

I'd ask for a meeting with her new key worker and see if they can pinpoint any issues and suggest some techniques to help her settle better.

A room change is a big move, from a child's perspective they may as well be in a new nursery with new room, new toys, new grown ups, new routines, new kids etc. It's understandable she needs some time to settle, but at this point I would be talking to the staff to see what they're doing to help her.

She was moved up early because she was advanced for her ages, she has really good speech and used to love helping out with the babies! The moved seems to have made her really shy and quiet now!

The staff tell us she’s fine after a few minutes when we drop her off but I think they tell that to everyone!

She did a few transition days but I don’t think it was enough! I expected a few tears when she moved up but not for this long!

Just want her to enjoy going and not be scaredSad
