Earning enough to stay at home...any ideas?

Does anyone have any ideas on how you can earn about £500 a month from home? I'm just trying to think of ways that my husband and I can bring our baby up ourselves and still pay the mortgage and eat! We are both qualified teachers so could tutor but apart from that...

Any brainwaves?

Have you thought about childminding?

The only problem with AQA is that some time are busier than others. Or at least used to be - I haven't done it for a few years. The busy times were difficult times for me to work.

hmmm might have to have a look at that. although it does say that only 10% of applicants are successful.

and lots of useless sexual information......

It's true if you can speed through a pile of question you can get quite a good rate. They said I could rejoin anytime without having to reapply.... hmm might test them out of that....

Cleaning agency - but keeping staff is hard.

11+ tutoring if you're in a grammar school area.

Teaching evening classes means you could split childcare between the day-jobber and evening-shifter.

Are there any other teaching related jobs? Editing educational manuals, writing articles or policy, marking exams - that sort of thing?

Can you tell more about this 'AQA'? It looks interesing. How do you apply?

mistlethrush · 08/01/2008 14:54

I do Pampered Chef as an extra to my pt work - but lots of people do it as their 'main' job. It means going out and showing off fantastic cookware in other people's house and doing a demo. Lots of free training, low start up costs. Should easily be able to get £50 plus for an evening - so if you're prepared to put some work in and do eg 2 shows or more per week, you should be able to get your required amount. I can give you more info if required - let me know and I'll give you email address.
