Is Lacara modelling Agency legit?

My daughter has been accepted but it says now I can pay £29.99 for a premium profile. Has anyone used them?

Sounds kind of like a scam to me. I wouldn't pay. The company I've worked with would take any fees of of the job the child booked. You shouldn't be paying upfront. They could accept any child and then day they need to pay. Yet you're never guaranteed a job. They'd make a killing from this and give everyone false hopes

veronicagoldberg · 08/04/2022 15:49

Why would you want your daughter to be a model? It's a horribly exploitative industry.

Spinakker · 08/04/2022 21:32

Yes it is a legit agency. There's a facebook group called parents of child models and Lacara is listed as one of the reputable agencies on there. I'd recommend you join the group- it's taught me alot about child modelling. My son is 3 and we signed with Lacara in March. They've submitted him for 4 jobs so far. Becoming a premium member just means you can see when the agency submit your child for a job and edit the profile details and pics when you want.

So its not absolutely necessary to be a premium member they will still submit your child for briefs.

What @veronicagoldberg said. My sister and I were briefly signed with an agency as children and I would never, ever consider it for my children.

You’ll always get the parents saying their agency is great and they’ve done their research but they’re all the same. It’s horrible.

Makes mummy some extra pennies though so who cares eh?!

No legitimate agency ever asks for money.

RussianSpy101 · 08/04/2022 21:45

@TheCanyon it’s so sad isn’t it.

I don't think what others are saying is true at all. My son has been a model for 5 years, he's had some amazing opportunities and has a great amount in his bank account for when he's older!!

All the jobs he has done have been fun and no pressure at all.

Hi,
Does anyone have a link to their website (KidsLondon). This link doesn' t seem to be working: www.Kidslondonltd.com/
Many thanks!

Antoinette · 14/06/2022 14:11

Hi. Yep Lacara is a legitimate agency. My daughter is 17 and has been with them for a few years now and had several jobs.

00kitty · 14/06/2022 22:49

You don’t have to pay the £29.99 only pay that to see what your child has been submitted for

to the poster saying mummy makes money from it…parents don’t get paid..the payment goes direct to the child

Grim. Don’t put your DC though modelling, it’s so exploitative & shallow.

Why is it? My son is 11 and has £12k in his bank account! The shoots are well paid for and he's not had one bad experience!!

chloelv4 · 09/08/2023 13:49

What agency did you go through?
All I seem to find is scams

TheFlis12345 · 09/08/2023 13:56

As someone who works in advertising and regularly with child models, I can assure you that they are incredibly well looked after. There are strict regulations about how long they can be on set at a time, they always have a chaperone with them, and even separate toilets that no adults are allowed to access. The kids really enjoy it, we have to make it fun for them, as if they are not enjoying it you can really tell in what you shoot.

littlepeaches · 10/08/2023 19:28

My son has moved from kids London to grace and Galor now.

Junebuggirl · 13/08/2023 08:05

Sounds like a scam if you pay them money
Also child modelling sounds terrible sorry

I had reservations about joining Lacara due to its relatively unknown status in the industry. However, I decided to proceed with them as I was looking for a non-sole agency representation for my daughter and although the social media presence was lacking, the reviews looked good. On March 31st, my daughter was accepted by Lacara, and I was sent a contract to sign.

At the time of receiving the contract, I had four different modelling agency acceptance emails and had not yet decided which agency to choose. Additionally, I was scheduled for surgery on April 2nd and planned to finalise the decision during my recovery . Upon reviewing the contract, I noticed that the link was labeled as "expired." I emailed Lacara to inform them of the issue and inquire about the offer period. Anya Taylor responded, stating that she had resent the link, but did not address my question regarding the offer period.

Assuming that time was not a factor, I waited until I was feeling better after my surgery and wanted to be fully recovered before committing to anything so that I would be able to travel to any castings or photo shoots if need be. I had decided to proceed with Lacara due to their non-sole agency status. However, when I clicked on the contract link sent two days ago, it again showed as "expired." I emailed Lacara to notify them and asked if this was normal. The response I received was abrupt and minimal, stating that "the space has been released."

Given the brevity of the response, I believe that Lacara's reaction was due to my mentions of the link expiring. Other wise why else would the place suddenly be released when i wasnt told of a time period for signing the contract and i had been sent another reminder to sign the contract just two days prior. Lacara ignored my question about the offer period, and I was not aware that my daughter's place could be released without warning. I find it concerning that Lacara would release my daughter's place without notification. The tone of Anya's response suggests a lack of professionalism, which raises questions about the agency's working style.

After recieving the email saying the place had been released i did reply saying I'd had surgery etc and thats why I'd taken some time to get round to signing the contract etc. This email was ignored. I mean I guess there wasn't anything for her to reply. She'd released my daughter's space.

I expected better communication and transparency regarding the process involved (thats if there even was one when it comes to the offer period) Given the circumstances, I believe Anya did this due to having a bee in her bonnet about what id said about the expired link (it couldn't of been about a rime period as there wasn't one) and quite frankly on reflection i think I have dodged a bullet.

I find the whole child modelling thing creepy and exploitive and also kind of sad what are you teaching your daughter about her worth. A child can't consent to having her image used publicly and who knows what the images are being used for by pedos, you are exposing your daughter for your own gain and it's really sad. People use AI software to manipulate childrens photos for create abusive images, why would you open your daughter to all that?
