Nappy rash only after poo's - need good barrier cream

Hey all - I've spent many hours trawling through the various threads on nappy rash but just need some specific advice so apologies for starting yet another nappy rash thread!

DD is 7.5 months old and until 2 weeks ago never had nappy rash. Now after poo's her bottom is red raw and twice had little spots of bleeding. Urine does not have the same effect in fact she will go to bed with a red raw bottom, then after a night of being against a urine soaked nappy it will almost have completely cleared up until she poo's again. Then it goes red raw. The only thing that seems to be an effective enough barrier is Lansinoh which I bought for my nipples back when we were getting the breastfeeding on track. However, it's £10 a tube and I've almost run out and can't afford to buy more.

So basically - can anyone please recommend a barrier cream as full-on as Lansinoh that I can use instead?????

Metanium?
Sudocream?
Bepanthan?

Olive Oil and Kamilosan have proved useless so far - too mild i think.

Then I'll try and work out why the nappy rash in the first place. It could be teething (she had her first tooth 3 weeks ago), she has also just got over a bad cold.

She is breastfed still 3-4 times a day but also eating 3 good meals. Won't drink water and has never had formula

Really appreciate your advice
xx

Metanium is excellent. I used it on my DS when he had bad nappy rash as a result of teething, etc...

Also, I have heard that raw egg whites whipped up and placed on rash area works well too.. although I have never tried it.

My DS is 7.5 and has recently got bad nappy rash after nothing at all from birth.
My aunt who is a midwife watched me putting sudocream on him and said I was putting on too much as nappies were designed to soak up the urine and the cream was stopping this from happening.
I always use Metanium when it gets severe, especially around the anus.
A problem I have (which you won't) is that my ds has had really red raw testicles which were so thin and damaged by the rash that no cream, including Metanium, would stick on. In the end I resorted to a couple of waterproof plasters for a day or two because I was so desperate. This seemed to do the trick and the plasters just washed off in the wee and poo. Not recommended though I'm sure.
It's a bit better at the moment because I am doing nappy changes every hour and, tbh, I think he just had a phase of doing loads and loads of poos and it has now settled in to just one or two a day again.
If it gets bad again, I will probably go for that prescription medicine.

Thanks guys

Good idea pistachio - I might see if they will go for it. It makes an excellent lip balm as well

magic fairy 3 bees barrier, almost the same consitency as lansinoh, a little bit thinner so you don't spread as much on,works wonders

Not sure if you're still checking this thread. I have the same problem with my DD. Started at 7 months, she is now 8 months. The doctor recommended Ihle's paste which is 25% zinc oxide USP. It seems to be working so far. Any idea what causes the rash? I've ruled out eczema and yeast. The Dr thinks it's some kind of contact dermatitis. She's referring us to a dermatologist. Same thing as you - clears up overnight, raw red by end of day.
