18 month old bot talking help

Hi everyone my son is being monitored until he is 3 because the doctor thinks hs has autism
I'm concerned about his speech he only knows mama and dada he used say baba for his bottle and nana but now he bo longer says these
He just makes high pitched noises and mama and dada for everything

I was wanted to know has anyone else children said so little at this age I'm just so worried he wont talk I just want hear his wee voice

And was wanting any tips anyone had with getting your children to talk
I was thinking of trying cue cards

All ideas and experiences would be great tia

Talk to him constantly. Just a running commentary on what you're doing/what he is doing/what you can see or hear etc.

Try as much as possible to make good eye contact and be down at his level so he can see your mouth.

Avoid having background noise (TV or radio) on in the background, you want him to be able to hear you clearly.

Read lots of books. Read the same ones over and over and over again. Sing lots of songs. Listen to music.

Use words repetitively.

Don't ask him 'can you say...' or in anyway put pressure on him.

When you're reading or singing or saying a familiar phrase pause before the last word to see if he can fill it in. No worries if he can't you just carry on, but give him the chance.

Have his pram facing you, not outwards if possible.

You may want to consider some makaton/sign language or other communication methods if it's felt his non-speaking could be due to autism.
