4th birthday party

We are arranging a 4th birthday party for our daughter and it is being held in a hall. We want to have party lunch boxes for the children. The party is being held from 3pm-5pm. It would be good to have some advice about what could possibly go in the boxes? Would you bother with sandwiches at that time? I'm assuming they would have eaten their lunch by then and will have dinner when they get home. TIA.

We had my DC’s 4th birthday party today at the same time and they all ate loads of the savoury food. I think after an hour running around they’d built up an appetite. Also lots of kids that age have an early tea, my DC often eats tea shortly after 4.00.

I probably wouldn't bother with sandwiches, they're rarely eaten and you wouldn't know which kid likes what.
I would go for standard party food - slice of cold pizza, babybel, packet of pom bears and a piece of fruit.

At a recent 4th birthday my daughter had a packet of crisps, yoghurt tube, cake bar and juice. There were extras of everything in case anyone wanted more.

If the party were 12-2 or something I'd do sandwiches and things as well but mid-afternoon it can be snacky. No one will be expecting a meal.

I think I’d be expecting a light tea at that time. We went to a 3 yo party last weekend and it was savoury too. Making up 12 simple sandwiches at home is easy enough (or however many). For my 3 yo’s I had a similar setup with boxes and out half a bread roll in everyone’s box and then had spares on a table. I did a mix of jam, cheese and vegan chicken slices (we are veggie/vegan) and just asked for preferences when dishing out. I also put Pom bears, a box of raisins, small packet of sweets or chocolate and a juice box. Had a big bag of spares with me too for hungry ones but they kind of swapped. Some kids not at all interested and some raiding the leftovers. Then a slice of birthday cake for the pudding. But you could do individual jelly pots if you felt like it.

I would expect a sarnie tea 4/430 fir a 3-5

its the parties that are 1-3 or 2-4 that are weird

Weve had a tea at 230 above and 330

It’s a weird time for a party
