Should we call 111

We all have Covid. My 9 month old has taken ill today, he’s very tired, grumpy and I can hear he has a lot of phlegm. His temp hasn’t gone past 37.1 but he’s thrown up twice. He’s just been sick now and it was so much 😓 I don’t know what to do, does he need to be seen or will they just tell me to keep giving calpol and watch his temperature?
It’s breaking my heart not being able to make him better!

You poor souls. I would call just to even get some advice. It’s just horrible when ur baby is unwell and too little to have any understanding or way to tell u what exactly they feel ! Take care xxx

i would suggest you give a call if it reassures you, sounds like your little one is just having some issues because of covid, luckily no fever! hopefully should die down, but if it reassures you, give a call, if not, unless he gets worst, i wouldn't worry too much.

do try however to give baby a little more water to ensure no dehydration occurs and have lots of cuddle time, sure your baby needs some affection!! but there's no harm in contacting for someone advice??

Of course call 111 for reassurance, and to check if there's anything you should be concerned about.

The three things I always look out for with DD when she has a vomiting bug are:

Is she drinking?

Is she peeing (and normal pale pee)?

If I press my finger on her foot, does the colour return to the foot quickly (under 2 secs)?

When she's getting over a vomiting bug I stick to the BRAT diet at first:

Banana
Rice (we usually miss the rice bit)
Apple sauce (I use an Ella's kitchen pouch)
Toast

Yes, it’s 111 not 999

I would call them , hopefully they will reassure you and tell you what to give him.
It's the worse thing when little ones are poorly, I used to find it hard to think rationally. Hope you all get better soon x

Tired or not easy to wake and keeps falling asleep?
Are they still having milk/weeing?

If they were drinking, weeing and truly wake when awake and your able to wake them up then I wouldn’t bother with 111. But I’m not there, and if you’re worried you should always seek help.

As others have said 111 is a good idea just to get some personalised advice if nothing else.

Try doing feeds little and often. Hope she perks up soon

111 is always a good idea with kids. We’ve had everything from reassurance to ambulances being sent- when we didn’t think something was that bad.
