Dirty Night Nappies

From a very early age my DS1 would do a poo in his nappy just after breakfast, and it became so predictable that I got into the routine of leaving his night nappy on until then to catch it, and save myself one less nappy to change/wash. He was potty trained day time at about 2.5, and would always tell me when he wanted to do a poo. Now he's coming up to 4, and still needs to wear a nappy at night (very heavy wetter). However, that's no real problem, I simply put on his nappy at night and take off the wet one in the morning. The problem is that in the past week or so he's been producing a particularly dirty nappy every morning, and I don't know what to do. It's as though he's regressing, without holding on and telling he needs the toilet. Any advice would be welcome.

I have no advice, but don't want you to feel ignored

Has anyhing else changed? Starting school or going back after Christmas and sleeping later/more heavily?

The only thing I can think of is to try waking him up 15 mins before he usally gets up, and putting him on the toilet.

Give him a reward for going to the toilet when he wakes rather than in his nappy.

Some children wet or dirty their nappy simply because they're wearing one. It's a matter of convenience or laziness. Does your DS ever wake up with a dry nappy? If so, you could try leaving it off one night and see what happens.

No, he wakes up every morning soaking, and is nowhere near ready to go without a night nappy imo.
