Hair loss

Hello! I am 6 months post partum and I am still losing lots of hair... it comes out in clumps when I brush it and wash it, even just running my fingers through it! When does hair stop falling out? Is there anything I can do to prevent it?

Take multi vitamins (B12) and try not to to worry about it, it's totally normal. Things will get better.

The hair goes through cycles. During the pregnancy the "losing" cycle is delayed, that's why we have gorgeous hair during pregnancy. After delivery we lose not only the normal cycle of hair, but also all the ones we should have lost during pregnancy. It will take some time, but the hair cycle should normalise soon.
Certain deficiencies in iron, protein and biotin might exacerbate the loss. Are you eating properly?

I do try and eat properly, and was thinking about taking a multi vitamin. Should I brush my hair more often or avoid it?

No, don't increase brushing. Think of your hair as a very fragile crystal vase. You are delicate when handling it. Use good quality products and don't be aggressive with styling, brushing, pulling into tight ponytails.

If you keep your hair tied up during the day, hair detach but don't fall, so when you are removing the hairband or clip, washing it or even touching , the hair loss might appear more important than if you were losing hair during the day. You should use products for thin hair .

Redken has a line called volume injection www.amazon.co.uk/Redken-Volume-Injection-Shampoo-1000ml/dp/B095B9FG88/ref=sr_1_4?crid=239GORMR64HG4&keywords=volume+injection+redken&sprefix=volume+injection+red%2Caps%2C500&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1648752572&sr=8-4 . Their product are expensive but a 1 litre bottle will last a long time and we spend on coffee and drinks without blinking.

I use Redken extreme. I have always had very long hair, and I remember being desperate with the loss of thickness. It comes back, don't worry. Decades later, I still have long thick hair.

This has just started to happen to me.
I have naturally very fine hair and during pregnancy i did notice it felt much thicker but disnt pay much attention to it.
Until a week ago where clumps were falling out in the shower.
Ive googled and have come to the conclusion its normal and will stop.
I do have an iron deficiency following birth and im rubbish at taking my supplements but ive been really trying to get them into my system in hope it helps.
