9 week baby feeding schedule.

My LO turned 9 months last friday, his feeding schedule isn't much different to what it was at around 3/4 weeks.

The aptamil feeding chart on the packaging suggests 8-12 week babies should feed 5/6 times in 24h, 5/6 ounces. But my little one only takes in about 3/4 ounces every 3 hours, feeding about 8-10 times in 24h.

I can't seem to try get him to feed more and last longer hours. His weight and height is great according to the doctor at his last checkup, so development isn't a problem.

Should I be worried about his feeding pattern?? any suggestions??

Absolutely shouldn’t be worried by the sounds of it, remember babies can’t read the aptamil packaging 😉 sounds like she’s doing great! Keep responding to what she’s asking for. Congrats on the baby!

As a guide they need 2.5 oz of formula per pound of body weight in a 24 hour period and when they’re very young some babies will favour getting this via smaller more frequent feeds over larger less frequent ones, it’s totally normal. If you try to push feeds out it could end up being counterproductive- if they take in less calories during the day then they’ll need to make up for it at night. There’s really no need to worry! If you did want a precise feeding schedule to make life easier then you could look at something like the Gina Ford routines but you really don’t need to.

i've noticed that. he had his eight week vaccine last wednesday and only took about half the ounces that day and the next due to his fever and sleeping more than usual. the next two days, he seemed hungrier than usual due to the lower caloric intake from the two days prior.

so you'd suggest i just keep giving him as he requires as opposed to putting a schedule in order?

Definitely just keep feeding what he wants when he wants, every 3 hours is totally normal and it sounds like you're both doing great. DS is 4.5 months and feeds 3.5-4 hourly through the day Smile
