Toddler suncream recommendations

17 month old has eczema prone skin. Tends to flare up with some products and if he’s under the weather etc.
Used Child’s Farm SPF 50+ last summer when he was over 6m and it didn’t flare up his skin etc but have just stocked up for this year and used it on him this week and his skin is horrendous again 😓

Any other recommendations for a good sensitive suncream?

La Roche-Posay Anthelios Dermo-Kids

The Altruist sunscreen, you can get it on Amazon in F50 and F30. DS1 had terrible eczema and it hadn't ever affected it and used it on DS2 as a baby. I use it on my own face every day also and make up goes on beautifully over the top, as an added bonus! It's very reasonably priced too.

Second for La Roche-Posay Anthelios Dermo-Kids. My daughter is 16 months and has had eczema since about 4 months. We used Dermo-Kids 50+ last summer and again last week in the heatwave and it didn't irritate her skin at all.

Thanks all 😊 I’m just about to place a Boots order and had looked at the La Roche-Posay one 👍🏻 I’ll give it a try! No doubt it’ll be a bit of trial and error like most other skin products for him!

Sun sense.

I like nivia best for all the family.
All our kids had eczema in their very early years and it was fine for them.

WaterBottle123 · 30/03/2022 13:39

Is sunscreen essential? Most parents MASSIVELY over use it in the UK and kids don't get enough vitamin D. And sunlight is extremely healing for skin conditions.

I would recommend being sensible e.g let him be in the sun when not too hot and then use long sleeves and a hat in very light fabrics. Constantly rubbing chemicals into our kids skins has its own issues.

BaffledMum22 · 31/03/2022 12:16

@WaterBottle123 It absolutely is essential in my opinion. But I have a very fair skinned, red headed child and a strong history of skin cancers on one side of my family.
I limit absolutely everything else that goes on his skin as I’m not a great lover of all the chemicals myself but in my opinion, sunscreen is absolutely essential
