Anyone else a paranoid wreck?

So my LO is 8 weeks old and is generally a “good” baby in that she doesn’t cry a whole lot and is starting to sleep longer stretches over night (sometimes up to 7 hours), BUT I’m still not particularly enjoying the newborn phase and I find myself worrying about everything!

I’ll see other threads about problems and assume the same will happen to us, which I know is crazy as every baby is different! But I can’t help but expect the worst. 😵‍💫 I remember doing the same when we got our puppy; scrolling forums and worrying that our pup would do every naughty thing I read about! In reality, he was a really good pup and has turned into an amazing young dog.

Honestly feel like the internet makes you crazy!

Does anyone else feel like this or am I a maniac? 😂

Perfectly normal.

I wouldn't say I'm a paranoid wreck but reading some of the threads on this forum in particular, makes me nervous for the toddler years.

Scottishbump85 · 26/03/2022 20:47

@shivawn same, but then I look at my niece and nephew and think “well, they aren’t so bad!”

Yes, I'm paranoid a lot. Baby is 9 weeks. My weird worry I've had since he was born really.. is worrying that things are too loud for him after reading about how sensitive their ears are. Probably completely ridiculous for me to worry so much, but I find myself worrying about the volume of the TV, how loud we're talking etc. He does jump quite easily with noise, which is probably normal for a baby. I guess it's the normal first time parent worries that disappear when you have another!

@Trinacham oh man, now I’ve something else to worry about! 😂

I'd love to say it gets easier as they get older but yesterday my 9yo went to the postbox alone for the first time and DH made a joke about her being abducted by aliens after I reminded her twice to use the pedestrian crossing and wait for the green man. Blush

There is always something else to worry about. The Internet can be a curse in that way as all the bad stuff is at our finger tips.

Oh no 😅 sorry!

I was just like this after my first was born. It's horrible, he was amazing yet every bad thing I heard from any other mum I was convinced would happen to us too. It never did. It ruined the experience and the whole first year of his life for me, for absolutely no reason!

So I would just say, try to not let that happen. I've had my second baby and am so chilled out this time, I can't believe the stuff I used to worry about and obsess over.

I've had CBT and this phrase stuck with me "Anxiety is like a rocking horse. It gives you something to do but doesn't get you anywhere". You can't predict what will happen, so don't waste your time worrying. Even if something goes wrong, you'll find a way anyway. It's really not worth it, enjoy your baby.

@DontWannaMiss thank you! That is a good way to look at things!

She’s currently suffering from what I think is a touch of reflux and I’ve convinced myself she’ll end up spewing every feed and being in constant pain, when in reality it’s not that bad! 🤯
