No idea what to get my 1 year old for her birthday!

I've given all my good ideas away to family haha, so she's getting a scuttlebug, standing stand pit, armchair, various other bits etc.
I'm getting her a piece of jewellery with an accompanying letter which I'll do every year and put in a box until she's 18 when she will open all and it will be a nice trip down memory lane. We're also throwing her a small party at our house.

I don't want to spend loads but still want to get her something, has anyone got any ideas? What did you get your LO that went down well?

Something for the garden - climbing frame, slide, Little Tikes car, mud kitchen?

Giant aqua doodle mat.
Extra balls for ball pit
Doll and pram

DS loves dancing to the Linkimals animals, I’d say the sloth is probably the favourite!

Celticdawn5 · 21/03/2022 06:54

I think she has enough .

A helium ballon. Keeps her happy for ages

We've got 4 gifts between our 2 DC (DD will be turning 2 and DS will be turning 1) they won't understand at this age so pointless spending loads, and if their anything like most kids, they've got so much stuff already! Combine that with the fact that they'll most likely get spoilt by other family, I think it's just a waste to buy for the sake of it. Ours have got a outdoor play kitchen, water table, ball pool and a selection of play food. It's all joint but they can ' open' 2 each plus whatever other family send them

Littlefish · 21/03/2022 07:04

She really doesn't need anything else! If you really want to get her something, then a lovely book that you can share together.

3xmonsters · 21/03/2022 07:05

Ikea kitchen 😁.

SamMil · 21/03/2022 07:13

Sounds like plenty to me. At one it is just for you - she doesn't know what a birthday is!

ohgoshhhh · 21/03/2022 07:14

My DD's are close in age so we still had all the toys from DD1, it was DD2's birthday last week, we got her a Teepee, a fluffy blanket to go inside, 3 books, a little hammer bench thing & some Minnie Mouse ears. The teepee is to make a reading corner in their bedroom Smile

mdh2020 · 21/03/2022 07:19

Books??????

Partyatnumber10 · 21/03/2022 07:23

How about getting a subscription to something like this:

https://whirli.com/offers/try-for-5?utmsource=google&utmmmedium=cpc&utmcampaign=Genericc-ToyySubscription&utmcontent=126324730772&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI87KZ0dXW9gIVx4BQBh01twYbEAAYASAAEgJlyvDDBwE

Rather than buying something that she'll soon grow out of?

Violetmo0n · 21/03/2022 07:23

Books
Little tykes car
Mini trampoline
Disco light (kept my son entertained for ages!)
Ball pit
Mini pop up tent
Slide

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 21/03/2022 07:27

Bubble machine

HomeHomeInTheRange · 21/03/2022 07:30

Walker truck with bricks
Wooden xylophone
Bath toys

LouLou198 · 21/03/2022 07:30

Honestly, I wouldn't bother with anything else. Mine were more interested in the boxes and wrapping paper at the at age. Save your money for when they are older.

carefullycourageous · 21/03/2022 07:33

Get something really nice that she can keep forever such as a beautiful wooden animal or other wooden toy, it can be an ornament for all the way through her childhood and then kept safe when she is an adult.

I love these type of things and often choose them for relatives for the 1st birthday as they need almost nothing at that age really:

myriadonline.co.uk/play-c-137/ostheimer-figures-animals-c-138/african-animals-c-185/ostheimer-lion-p-39858 there are all different animals.

Or one of the wooden rainbows which they played with until the end of primary and then had on the window sill, they are nice and come in a range of sizes.

@Celticdawn5

I think she has enough .
This.

If you really want to use more of your money, I'd put it into a savings account for her. Children cost more money as they get older, so best to start saving now.

2ndBorn · 21/03/2022 07:35

Bubble machine for sure or trike.
I’ve got my son one of those doona trikes, a jumper, bath toy & backpack Reins. Definitely not going mad like I have in the past Grin they don’t care!

duvetdayforeveryone · 21/03/2022 07:36

At some point she might ask for a mobile phone, iPad, mountain bike, branded make-up, branded trainers... which are all eye watering expensive.

Lou98 · 21/03/2022 07:38

My Son is one soon and we're getting him a trike!

We're in the middle of moving so don't really have garden space for stuff just now so thought a trike would be good as we can take it out on walks with us

mrsprefect · 21/03/2022 07:38

DS got a reading tent. I filled it with cushions and books (classic ones to stand the rest of time) and attached balloons and fairy lights for the big day. We still snuggle in it to read 3 years later.

Jamn50 · 21/03/2022 07:40

Let your family get her those things and open a bank account and put what you would spend in there for something you might want to get in the future. She will have plenty.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 21/03/2022 07:41

My daughter just turned 1 and I just realised we got her nothing 😂😂

I mean she gets everything else from us! We threw a little party and she enjoyed that

Parker231 · 21/03/2022 07:46

A large cardboard box - best present ever for that age!

takemeawayyy · 21/03/2022 07:46

Il be honest I'm done with buying presents for birthdays now as they have beyond to much and you buy for buying sake.
We now do one present, a special day out and a new outfit. Makes a better memory then tons of toys they won't play with x
