Nanny's husband has Covid

He tested positive today. She's testing negative and feels fine. We are fully vaxxed adults here, one 12-year-old (unvaxxed), and 9-year-old (it's her birthday party this weekend).

Would you have the nanny in this week? If I ask her to keep off, I expect I need to pay her under current rulings. So - would it be reasonable to ask her to do a couple of virtual/Zoom sessions from home during my meeting times? (I WFH). Thanks

Can she do daily LFTs and come in if negative? I know that's the rules in Scotland for contacts

Mumdiva99 · 20/03/2022 18:33

Aren't the kids at school this week? How would virtual session help with that? If they are at school.....she can't get them drinks or snacks or take them to activities, or cook tea.....So I you want her off I would be questionning the value of a zoom - surely the kids can entertain themselves; read, do homework, watch TV etc

What can she really do via zoom?

Help them with homework?

Yeah I should've explained better. She's a homeschool helper and a trained teacher, and also a really good friend/mentor to my child who's currently home educated.

I am on week 3 of Covid

Yes, I’d suggest you ask her to work remotely this week and next

She might be lucky and not get infected but this new variant is so contagious that I personally would prefer she stay away … I realise that is disruptive and that your kids are likely to be exposed at school too

My sister gave me Covid while staying as a houseguest, did not test positive for another 2 days after leaving and did not initially realise it was Covid (her first symptom was body aches)

thebabynanny · 20/03/2022 19:33

My whole family is positive for covid at the moment but I'm negative and going in to work!

If you want her to stay off you need to pay her in full.

So she's a private tutor - not a nanny.
So yes she can either work in person or via zoom. Your choice. But I will depend on the set up of your home learning how useful she will be on zoom. Also be mindful she can't magic an online lesson out-of thin air...she might need time to adapt her planning.
