Teething at 13 weeks

My 13week old is teething and wondered what others used to help when they are so little! I'm using calpol & Ibuprofen. I've also got Ashton & palmers powders but he is still struggling.

My baby has just turned 16 weeks and has been teething for a few weeks already too. He was so irritable and I struggled to get him to drink his milk, presumably because his gums were hurting so bad. I found the best thing has been the Ashton and Palmers teething gel which is 3 months+ as well as baby nurofen if it gets really bad. My friend also gifted me a Matchstick Monkey which he loves chewing on cold from the fridge!

Teething gel.

@spagino21 I never thought to put his monkey in the fridge. I've been so tired with him up all night in pain I don't have a working brain 😂 I'll try the gel and I've only used the powder. I didn't think the first ones bothered them this much. I thought they just appeared 😂

This is my first so I don’t really have a clue! Everyone I spoke to said he’s too young to be teething but I just had a feeling and sure enough he was a different baby after I started using gel etc. He still does have bad days don’t get me wrong but it’s so much more manageable now! Hope the gel works for you!

@spagino21 I was the same thinking he was to young and some friends said the same thing. It wasn't until we went for his 12 week jabs that the nurse looked and said he was teething 😂

My son had two front bottom teeth almost through at birth (full-term) and they had appeared fully by the time he was 3 days old and fell out when he was 5.

And yes, I did breast feed him until he was 6 months old.

@ChocolateDeficitDisorder my mum was born with teeth, she's not sure what happened with them and her parents aren't around for us to ask. I'm not looking forward to the feeding when these come through 😂 my nipples are not ready 😂

Apparently there are early teeth called 'natal teeth' which can come through early but they're generally yellow and crumbly and get removed as they're a choking hazard - they don't affect the real primary teeth from coming through.

My son's came through white and shiny and they were his actual teeth. He has also gone on to be diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos type hypermobility (lax joints and stretchy skin). I do wonder if that had anything to do with.

He never bit me - he was a hungry baby and knew not to bite the nipple that fed him!

I used ambesol from 4 months (think it says 5 months in the bottle - don't shoot me ) and it's magic. Used for all my DC and non were too bad with teething.
