Suckable sweets for a flight - alternatives for almost 3yr old?

We're going on holiday next week and I'm trying to work out the best way to help DD with her ears for takeoff and landing.

I'm just very nervous about giving her sweets to suck on, because of the choking risk.

I'm normally pretty chilled about this kind of thing. We let her have most nuts, with the caveat that she must not them in half, not put it in her mouth whole. But I think she'll just chew a soft sweet and hard boiled sweets make me nervous.

What could I give her to help with the pressure change?

Have you thought about a lollipop? Maybe get one before hand and for you too and show her how to suck a lolly. Then it’s not going to get accidentally swallowed x

We used mini chup lollies. The risk of them coming off the stick was less than them choking on just a sweet.

Boots used to do these, but for kids. Helped us if you can find a kids version, but at least 2 sets as if they fall out they are fiddly to find on the plane. www.boots.com/boots-flight-earplugs-1-pair-with-carry-case-10114106

It's the swallowing that helps as well, so sometimes having a drink cam help, or just eating anything. Something slightly chewy like the yo yo bear paws or strings might help.

This is helpful, thanks guys. I'll have a think about lollies and definitely check out those war plugs.

And lots of drinks. That's an easy one.

Lolly or starburst

It's say any safer food or a drink of water would get them swallowing enough to ease the pressure a bit. It's worse on landing. My 3 year old wasn't bothered though.
