How long until she might be walking now

My daughter is 13mo is standing independently for a few seconds and she's taken a couple of steps towards me on two occasions.

How long do you think it might be now until she walks? I'm so excited to see her walk!

Sometimes it seems like a confidence thing, like she's a afraid of falling on her bum so doesn't want to try until she's sure

I don't know many mums, but one that I work with her daughter started walking at 10 months and was RUNNING at 14 months. Even though I know they are all different there is a tiny glimmer of concern in me.

She's also not saying many words, just mama/mummy, daddy and yeah.

I keep telling myself she's fine and thriving and not to worry! But would be nice to hear from other parents

Who knows just practise with her and have fun
Sounds like she’s doing well and it’ll happen why worry? She sounds absolutely normal - mine walked at 12/13 months one was later at 19mth and he was talking well before my other kids. I have 4 so learned they just do it in their own time.

Very soon!! Does she walk confidently holding furniture?

All kids are different 🤷🏻‍♀️ DD1 started walking at 9 months (and talking at 3yo......)!! DH did nothing but sit until 1yo. Like I say, most kids will be walking, talking, jumping when they are 5. Delays are more normal than we know

Don't be concerned. DS was around 14 months I think when he started toddling on his own. Now he's 3 there is no difference really between him and other children his age.

13 months is fine. Mi e was 15 months she cruised till then.

My son was 11
Months but he was much more fun how about all physicall
Things.

Your dd sounds great. Two friend of mine had 18months and one even 2 years.

It could be a few days, could be a few months. My children were 10 months 15 months and 17 months, al perfectly fine.

mrsed1987 · 20/03/2022 08:17

My son was 15 months. When I had his 2 year check The health visitor told me that's the avarage age as I mentioned he walked late!

MargaritasOnMe · 20/03/2022 08:19

They are all different. My first walked at 13 months but very wobbly, fell over loads (his confidence far exceeded his ability!) and he couldn't walk far. My second was closer to 16 months but went from not walking at all to walking really well very quickly! So it's hard to say really.

jupitermars1345 · 20/03/2022 08:19

Mine was 15 months
My nine month old now doesn't even crawl etc yet
I was almost two before i walked.

She's doing just fine. They are all completely different so never compare

My daughter took a few steps but then didn’t really want to practice for about 4 weeks. Then she seemed to get the confidence and just went for it.

Impossible to say: it could be days or months. Confidence, strength, and ability have all got to be in place, and then they just suddenly 'get' it IME. DD1 went from standing and cruising at ~10m to walking at 12m. For a month before she walked she could take 1 or 2 shaky steps before landing on her bum, but we counted 10 steps as 'walking' and once she achieved that it quickly ramped up. DD2 was crusing at the same age as DD1, but didn't manage to walk more than a few steps until 15m. She literally went from a few staggering steps only to across the room and back without falling in a day.

Your colleague's daughter is probably not going to grow up to be a better walker than your daughter. DS didn't utter a word until after he turned two, by the time he started school he was advanced for his age.

You have nothing to worry about.

If your health visitor suggests any extra help, take it, but still don't worry.
