19 month old diarrhoea

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has gone through this with their kid…

So, my son is 19 months old and had his delayed PCV and MMR vaccine on Monday. From Wednesday on, he has had mild loss of appetite (will still drink milk and water, eat chicken nuggets…) and excessive diarrhoea. I mean like every 20 minutes. I have gone through 25 nappies in one day! It is little poo and can go from green to yellow. Today, I noticed some bright red blood. What I find odd is that he has no other symptoms? No tummy ache, no fever etc. He used to get Diarrhoea when teething but there is no fussiness or leaking, temp… and he already has 16 teeth so only back molars left. His bum and privates are all sore/red (walking with wide legs). As soon as the poo touches his skin it burns it. I put oil and sudocrem to prevent as well as low nappy and no bodysuit…

I will take him to GP on Monday…but I am concerned because of the blood and no other symptoms… could the vaccines have done something? Is it possible he is going through a development growth? I am so perplexed…

Any information anyone?

Thanks!!

This is not a developmental growth.

Is he still weeing? If not, you need medical advice.

If there is blood in his diarrhoea, he needs to be checked over.

Yeah, the development growth idea is quite far fetched…he is not weaning. He has been on solids since 5 months. Yes, he is peeing just as frequently as he usually does. To be honest, he is the same as any other day. Totally happy, smiley, running about and playing with his older sister. Napping same time, sleeping through the night. It is just really his frequent pooing and the blood that is out of the ordinary. I have a breastfeeding 4 month old as well so I don’t want to rush to emergency and wait hours. So, I will take him to GP on Monday, unless his becomes worse… in the meantime, I thought maybe MN had some useful information and reassurance…Smile
