She can roll over amazing, but topples over when sitting as she can't/wont use her arms for support.
When on her belly she pushes up on forearms, never once on her hands.
She bears weight on her legs fine.

Also she started kind of clapping, but only for one day and stopped. She doesnt seem to respond to her name either.

Anyone is/has been in a similar situation?
Thanks in advance xxx

Have you asked your health visitor for advice?

Mamabear1212 · 17/03/2022 12:27

I'm waiting for my appointment. But I'll also go to my doctors (no appointments until next week either), I had concerns about my other daughter which were correct and my health visitor tried to calm my concerns.

I'm looking for people who've been in the same situation and how their babies are.

I have an almost 9 month old. He only just in the last two weeks started pushing up on his hands. Prior to this is was forearms only.
He responds to his name 60% of the time. The hv was here last week and felt he was fine🤷🏻‍♀️I'm not worried as he is doing milestone if a little slower. He does have fantastic hand eye coordination, Can say hiya, mum and dada. They are all different.
Do you have ticktok by any chance?there is a lady called the milestone mama who puts up videos of how to encourage various skills. She's fab and I done a lot of her videos as my little one hated tummy time. Also used her videos to learn to push up on hands.

Thank you so much for that! Did you find your little one was quite floppy on the arms?

Mine only just responded to name at 10months. Just encourage lots of arm based stuff to build the muscles. Did you do tummy time, if not it's not surprising and expect a lag on arm development if you did maybe check in with HV.

Hi OP,

DS2 has hypermobile shoulders and ankles and took him a while to push himself up properly on his arms. Around 10 months he got there and progressed to crawling soon after. He was slow to bring his hands together and manipulate toys as well as his flexible shoulder girdle left his shoulders quite retracted when lying on his back (if you see what I mean.)

Try not to worry too much.

Oh and name response isn't meant to be consistent until closer to a year so plenty of time Smile

My son couldn’t even roll over at 10 months, but was walking by 14. There’s nothing to be gained by getting too detailed regarding milestones but a lot of peace of mind to lose.

Hi😊
How is your daughter doing today?
I have a son (7 months) and he can’t push up on straight arms and seems weak in his arms. He is in general late in the milestones and I’m really worried something is wrong. But especially his weak arms worry me. We have an appointment with his doctor Monday, but I'm looking for people who've been in the same situation and how their babies are…

@MumJC hi mum, what else is exactly worrying you? Can he sit up when you sit him down? Mine were always pretty strong on their tummies but couldn't sit up until about 8-9 months which was considered late.

Is he smiling at you, looking at you? Is he grabbing toys and exploring the toy? How is he with his food?

My first hit most of his milestones late but is a very happy, clever 4 year old.

Baby 2 was quicker but he had his older bro to watch and is just a different character. They're all very different.

@MumJC By the 8 month mark DD had never pushed up onto straight arms either when on her front, had seemingly forgotten how to roll front to back and hated tummy time still. Then one day, she just pushed herself all the way back up into sitting. Absolutely no indication it was coming, and was conventionally crawling within a week.

@MumJC my little guy is 19 months now. I commented on this thread when he was 9 months. He was "late" with his milestones . He never crawled until he was one and walked at 17 months. Honestly they get there. He such a bright little thing with his problem solving and talking. He understands soooo much which still blows my mind.
