Baby not feeding without breast compressions

I hope someone would be able to help me as I don't think I would be able to carry on nursing 🙄

Baby is 3 months old and exclusively breastfeed, although it happened few times over the last few weeks that I gave him 40-60mls of expressed BM at night.
He is now gaining weight steadily - 200-300g weekly, but he had problems with that at the beginning; had a tongue tie and hence developed jaudice which required phototherapy. TT was cut when he was 3,5wks and feeding improved massively. HOWEVER! When I was feeding those first few weeks (he was not losing weight but was not putting on either, regained his birth weight only in week 6), I was advised to utilise breast compressions to make sure he is withdrawing as much milk as possible plus to help to build my supply. Long story short, we are now in week 12 and he is still feeding with me squeezing my boobs! He doesn't want to suckle without it. It's not a massive issue but I feel very conscious when out and about as I can't just hold him and, fir example, text or drink tea as my hands are always occupied. It's really challenging at nighttime as he feeds for an hour and there is no possibility for me to feed him using side lying position. I feel really tired in the morning as before I fall asleep again, my DS1 wakes up and needs my attention.
Latch wise I think he could open his mouth more but again, I'm not able to force him to draw more breast into his mouth. I had a review with the TT clinician who made a cut and was advised that all his tongue functions are spot on and these are just'learnt behaviours' 🙄 nevertheless, they are pain the back and make me not enjoying bf journey!
Any pearls of wisdom would be very much appreciated!

could you maybe try just doing it a little less and less over a few days/weeks and gradually weaning him off it? So start doing it more softly, then start taking pauses etc, until your hand is just resting on your boob, then start taking it away for short times until you don't need to do it any more?

With the latch, you might just have to get strict - if he's not latching properly take him off and get him to re-latch. It's a bad habit that can be broken, but it is learnt and he won't want to change it so it won't be easy! You might have to do it over and over again, every day...

I seem to remember being told that babies can get used to the fast flow from breast compressions. And they end up expecting it because either means they don't have to put as much effort into feeding.

I can't remember what I ended up doing... I think whenever the baby (it was my DD more than DS) stopped actively feeding and just lay there latched on I would unlatch her. She would root around and latch on and feed properly. But any stopping and I'd take her off again.
