4 year old birthday party (first one)

I think I've left it too late to book anywhere/anyone for my son's birthday (mid May) so I'm thinking of doing it at home.

We have a large garden with climbing frame/slide combo and sandpit plus numerous toys. Have enough space to put up a gazebo for shade / rain cover. I was thinking a few old style party games...pass the parcel, musical statues/bumps and a garden picnic. Max 12 pre schoolers plus siblings so maybe 20 kids. I would provide jugs of Pimm's or similar for parents.

Does this sound shit? My son's never been invited to a party before but has 3 coming up in April/May so I don't know what the done thing is?!

20 kids is quite a lot and remember you can’t guarantee it won’t be raining in May.

That sounds lovely though I agree possibly slightly too many children, depending on exactly how large your garden (and house) are. And make sure the jugs of pimms are well away from the children!

I was wondering about number of kids... I'll see if I can reduce the number down to about 8-10 plus siblings. Also, was planning on max 1.5 hrs 11am to 12.30 so a garden picnic would take up some of the time.
I also thought of having a little table/corner with colouring or something for those not wanting to run around like loons!

I could move the sofas out and we could fit about 12-15 kids in the lounge if they sat on the floor (no idea where parents would sit?!?!) if it was really raining but it would be much harder if we couldn't be outside.
