Hi,

I've attached a pic. DS face and ears are covered in these spots. He hasn't got a single spot anywhere other than his face and ears.

Symptoms was three days of extremely high fever and generally unwell. Has perked up now but has the spots.

Does this look like chickenpox to you?

It's not dissimilar so probably. Can you do an econsult and send a picture to the GP to be sure?

It could also be hand foot and mouth. Where are the spots?

jellybe · 15/03/2022 07:32

I'd say that is chicken pox. One of mine got it mainly on their face with only a few on the rest of their body.

It’s hard to tell. Are the spots blistering?

They tend to appear in crops so eg crop on face then a few hours later a crop on back etc. They don't always blister but some usually do

A couple of my children never got many spots but it was chicken pox. One was a baby and still breastfeeding and the other had had the chicken pox vaccination, so doctors said that led to fairly mild cases.

daphnedoo12 · 16/03/2022 08:44

It's really strange how mild it is, his spots have improved (still there) they haven't blistered. My 6mo hasn't caught it yet
