Plastic Pants

I get the impression most mums are against putting traditional type plastic pants on over their DCs terry nappy, whereas I have been using them on DS1 and 2 with no ill effects, and think they are the best water proofing system! Am I alone in this? Is so, what is the best way to waterproof a bulky well padded terry nappy bottom, with the added guarantee of no leaks?

I used plastic pants for a while over terries, but personally I wish I'd found out about Airflow wraps much sooner. The plastic pants left horrible red indentations on his legs and got really hot and sweaty. In fact, for a while we used nothing at all over the terries and then changed his vest at the same time as his nappy. Then we discovered the wraps.

I always put plastic pants on over my children's terry nappies, with no ill effects. The ones from Boots are quite good, but Mothercare are better quality. If you can afford it Disana do really good pants, which are nice and roomy to cover the bulkiest nappy, and have very soft and stretchy legs openings, which avoids those red indendations mentioned. The key to the best "waterproofing" system is to have the right size plastic pants, and to make sure ALL the nappy is contained inside, otherwise you will get leaks. I always run my finger around the waist and leg openings after putting the pants on over the nappy to make sure everything is neatly tucked in.
