How on earth do you deal with toddler vomit? We try and get them to the bathroom as soon as we can and have a bowl on standby. But LO has twice now vomited all over the cot and got it on the carpet. How do we clean this up? Help!!

DD is excellent at puking in a large Tupperware (binned after use) if we get there quickly enough.

If not: scrape it up, and clean carpets and soft furnishings with Dr Beckmann carpet cleaner.

I just keep a large supply of towels nearby and try to get them to be sick on them instead

@NewYearEveryYear thank you I'll get some in and the tupperware is a good idea

We put towels/spare sheets down all around the cot/bed and floor but I always wonder whether we’ll have enough to get through the night. For future we have bought disposable bed mats for when/if we have vomiting kids. Good luck. It’s horrid.

Sorry if TMI but can they go straight in the washing machine like that? I'm worried ill ruin the machine.

Takes them a few years to be able to puke into a container. It’s a game changer when they can though!

Every household has its own ‘sick bucket’. Ours is one of those little Halloween buckets!

Fizbosshoes · 09/03/2022 00:26

my DC are tween/teen now but the baby top and tail bowl that I used about 4 times as a top and tail bowl is the official "sick bowl" in our house and lives under one of their beds. Also the potty is good!

If you sense they might be sick I would put extra towel on the bed and have one to hand.

Thanks everyone I feel I am a little more prepared for next time

If they vomit on the floor... talcum powder or flour over the top. Drys it up then you can sweep it up. 🤢

No practical tips but I feel your pain, when other people vomit I vomit which was fun with three kids. They were all really good and managed themselves if DH wasn’t around from an early age. Lots of sheets and towels went straight into the washing machine in our house and it wasn’t a problem.

You are a lifesaver!

@Flatandhappy thank you also. Straight in the machine it goes.

My kids always had something like a popcorn bucket with a lid. They were very good at vomiting, sticking the lid on and going back to sleep. Even when small. They were in big beds from 2 onwards. I think it's probably a tricking one if they are still in a cot though.

Just wanted to say thanks again to everyone who helped out last night. We eventually got some sleep and things seem to have settled down this morning.
