DS1 (4) is completely manic and driving me up the wall. I am holding Ds2 (7mths) on my lap and trying not to retaliate, he is being horrible, revolting, massively overactive and I do not want to inflict physical punishment, nor can I leave the house for 2 minutes and stand outside while he calms down as Ds2 has nothing on but a nappy. I feel like I am going to scream.
What do you do?

yep baby in his cot lock yourself in the bathroom.

TheIceQueen · 04/01/2008 16:02

or lock yourself in the bathroom - put some cltohes on DS2 - place DS2 in his cot and then go outside......in that time your DS1 will (hopefully) have calmed down.

Take baby with you. How about giving ds2 an early bath?

Twiglett · 04/01/2008 16:04

would sending him out into the hall work? DS could do this even mid-tantrum (it seems that DD can't though)

Niecie · 04/01/2008 16:04

Put the baby in his cot and go and punch a pillow in your bedroom.

Do you know what has triggered the bad behaviour?

Flllightattendant · 04/01/2008 16:06

Thanks all!
He is alternating between climbing on the sofa with a bottle of milk (yes) and coming up to me doing 'bum' jokes like only a 4yo can.
I am hoping he settles down and goes to sleep on the sofa.

Bathroom is a great idea.

I think it is because he has gone back to school for the morning, he will go all day from Monday.
The kids were all wild when I picked him up.

Mind you he's been pretty nuts for about a week now. I was hoping school would wear him out!

I'm feeling anxious atm which does not help, of course he picks that up and it makes him silly.

Can you buy yourself a quiet afternoon by putting on a favourite video or DVD?

Flllightattendant · 04/01/2008 17:29

Well Niecie, in theory but often once it is on he just ignores it and apes around the room anyway. Then I end up turning it off because it adds to the noise etc.
He is a bit calmer now though still not asleep.

Thanks for helping me out there

Roll on Monday...
