Hi what is your morning routine and after school routine for your reception aged child? Thinking ahead for September

We get up, brush teeth etc, head down for breakfast. Don't really allow tv at breakfast time as it tends to slow them down and takes them ages to eat. Then we head up to get changed into uniforms and out the door.

After school, we come home, shower, have a snack, play for a bit and then do homework followed by dinner and bed.

Hi do you have rough timings? As in how long do you allow for breakfast/ changing etc? Do they shower in the morning/eve?

My DD is an early riser so if she’s up before 7 we watch tv downstairs then at 7 go up and get me and her ready and then back down for 7.45 for breakfast and start getting ready to go out the door at 8.15 and leave at 8.25. Sometimes she gets ready really quickly and I do other bits in the time we’re getting dressed and other times it’s a battle.
In the afternoon she comes home, has a snack, either plays or watches tv which I’m relaxed about because she’s often so tired then dinner. Since Christmas she’s got a bit more used to how tiring school is but for the first term she was so tired.

Kids official wake up time is 7am but reception child is usually up before then.

7- wake, toilet, teeth, wash face
7-7:20 - get dressed in uniform
7:20 - second Bluey - watch CBeebies while mum and dad make breakfast, empty dishwasher, pack school bags etc
Go Jetters and Peter Rabbit - eat breakfast
After Peter Rabbit - going out wee, shoes on, coasts on out the door by 8:15
Walk to school arrive about 8:35 ready for gates to open at 8:40

No shame, I use CBeebies to help them and us work through the morning. After Bluey makes more sense to both the 5 year old and 3 year old than saying at 7:30.

After school we get home about 3:30 / 3:45 and have a snack and then play. Sometimes we will go to soft play after school. In the summer we might go to the park after school if he's up for it.

Don't over think it, you'll find your own pattern. My daughter is still at nursery but we normally get up 7ish, have breakfast while watching TV, and then slowly get ready, from 8-845 then out the door. It's no different to any other morning other than being out earlier.

After nursery, we get home around half 3, she has a snack and juice, plays a bit, colouring, and some TV while I make tea and then we eat at 5, bath at 6, supper and bed by 7.
