Is this normal for my 10 week old baby?

Hi I'm new to mumsnet and new to motherhood too, my little girl has just turned 10 weeks yesterday, for the last 2 days, she's slept a lot more than usual (around 20 hours out of the 24) and when she is awake she's crying and unsettled, is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this? My dad's a nurse and he has said the same as other mums that I've spoken to, as long as she is responsive when awake (which she is), she can be woken (she can), doesn't have a temperature or rash (she doesnt), and as long as she's wetting and dirtying plenty of nappies and taking all of her feeds (which she is) then there's nothing to worry about and she will be fine. She does have colic and reflux that she's had since a few weeks old, she has slept through the night from been 6 weeks old but this much sleeping in the day is new, I know reading this back some people may think why is she complaining, but I'm just worried that the little time that she is awake she's crying and is really upset.

I think trust your gut! If you think something's "off" there's no harm in getting her checked out. Last time I took D to the doctor, she said she'd rather see 50 healthy babies than miss one sick one!

I would definitely speak to the gp about this, I’m sure it’ll be fine but best to get it checked out

Thank you, yes I will get her checked just to be sure and it will also put my mind at rest.

I can't remember exactly when they happen but could she be going through a developmental leap? There's an app called the wonder weeks that's great for keeping track, DD always used to sleep a lot and be a little off when a leap was starting.

Yes, one of my mum friends mentioned this too, it's just so hard when your a first time mum, literally everything is new. I'm awaiting a call back from my GP just to be on the safe side.

Oh definitely trust your gut, the doctors would always rather you call even if it turns out to be nothing. Hope everything is fine x

My 4 week old baby was sleepy in the day as a new thing. He didn't feed much and then got a temp. By that night he was in the children's ward with a kidney infection. Trust your gut.

He's now 9 and was fine after a week in hospital and some strong antibiotics.

I think wonder weeks has been largely debunked... I bought the book and it was rubbish tbh

Thanks everyone for your replies, I've had her checked over by GP and thankfully she's absolutely fine, so now I can stop worrying and maybe take advantage of the extra time while she's sleeping 🤣
