10.5 month still bf in the night.

My dd is 10.5 months and is still waking at least twice per night to feed on a good night. More like 3-4 times most nights.

My Dh will try go in to settle her and it has worked on a couple of occasions but more often than not we end up with her screaming and arching her back until I go in to feed her.
I hate hearing her cry so I really don't know what to do but the lack of sleep is really taking it's toll on me now. I also have a 5yo. It's starting to affect our family life as my mood is just all over the place.

She eats solids well but only bf during the day first thing on a morning, before naps and before bed. HV last week suggested giving her some supper, weetabix etc. I'm convinced she isn't waking from hunger and I know bf is comfort for them too and up until now I have just got on with it because she is still a baby and needs comfort but I'm really struggling now.

I have been reluctant to night wean because she is only little, she was born on 9th centile, went up to 25th but has come back down again. I'm not overly concerned about the movement b cause she's following her birth line.
My head is all over the place with it and I really don't know what to do or how to approach night weaning. I feel cruel doing it but also think our family life would be a lot better if we had just a tad more sleep!

If you have been in this situation please can you offer any advice or words of wisdom!
Thank you

Mine are older now but were exclusively breastfed until a year old. The both woke on average 3 times a night for feeding. Once they weaned themselves they slept much better and woke less. ( never had formula but that’s just me and I have allergies and asthma and was keen to breastfeed for 12 months etcetc.) I now look back on it and while worn out I treasure the moments we had…good luck! Don’t think it’s unusual! Xxx

Thank you. That's the other thing, I really do love bf and she settles so easily with it most of the time. Yes I'm not willing to introduce formula at this stage. I think maybe we should just carry on the feeding until 1 and hope she set weans. That would be the ideal outcome I think.

Sometimes they just want to suckle.

Yes! We gave her one at 6mo hoping it would help. It does help if she is just stirring but once she is awake she just cries regardless
