CMPA? How long to see symptoms?

Trying to keep brief!

I wondered if my 4mo has a cows milk intolerance. She was always super fussy and seemed to start getting calmer in Jan. thought this was just developmental, but in Feb the fussiness returned. This coincided with me doing veganuary, so got me thinking. I started cutting out dairy 2 weeks ago (except for one comfort choc bar last week - oops) and things seemed to be settling.

Cut to tonight, my LO starts screaming out of no where while sleeping and then had wind. Lots of arching her back all the way back while holding her and such sad tears. She never cries at night so this is odd and I’ve never seen her arch her back like this before. Settled very quickly after the wind.

I racked my brains about what I’d eaten and realised I had a coffee from a vending machine for first time today - this obviously had milk in but I completely forgot! Question is, would this be related? The episode of screaming was about 8 hours post coffee?

Only other thing I can think is I had greens/kale with dinner and she was a bit fussy the day after I had a kale pesto last week… would greens do it?!

Yes, could well be the milk. Or the kale, both can cause problems for some babies.

It can take a while to get to your bm.

I had no idea veg could have this effect? Anyone else had a similar issue?!

Sounds right. Between 4 and 48 hours. About 50% of babies with cmpa are also allergic to soya too as the protein is very similar.

Green veg are quite high in iron, could explain it I guess?

Ds's paedriatic gastro had me keep a food diary, if I noticed he was unwell I cut out whatever it was I suspected for 3 weeks, then introduced it back and saw how he reacted.

Babies who have intolerances can react to all sorts of things, but don't worry too much, they tend to grow out of it by the time they are 1.
