Tis all over.

Cloth is being put into a big box tonight and put away until the next one/I decide there is no next one and sell em

What a bummer

Never mind .... there are loads of us on here that still need your nappy talk, and you'll be grinning all over when you have a dry and happy little boy.

Nappyzone · 04/01/2008 10:57

oh you have to do what you have to do to keep a happy bum and when he is dry you will have monies to spend on takeaway and wine - longies tell me more lol!???? i feel really sad for you but that day will come to us all - i just live in fear of it.

nappyaddict · 08/01/2008 08:26

have you tried washing them in washing soda with an extra rinse?

how long have you left him out of cloth nappies? my friend had to keep her dd in sposies for about 2 weeks so the rash could clear and then she went back into cloth without a problem.

Yup, tried both

He turned round (after a nappy free morning), took the disposable out of my hand, and insisted on a pirate nappy for the afternoon

I am trying to keep him nappy free as much as possible, then I think I will let him choose which type he wears - one cloth a day shouldn't do any harm

Commiserations, Flame

Do try what nappyaddict suggests, though; it has worked for me in the past

MozzybearBaileysIce · 08/01/2008 15:08

Aw Flame

You did your best and tried absolutely every barmy idea anyone had. Even if you can just use 1 cloth nappy per day, its one less sposie.

Hopefully he'll show readiness for PT soon and you can put him in cloth (pants) again.

FlameNFurter · 08/01/2008 18:23

Lol, I really did try all the barmy ideas DH was a bit baffled when he got a carrier bag out of the freezer to find nappies in there... he wanted to know if they were bad scary nappies and that was why they were in the freezer!

Hehe it was all worth a try, you and your white coat and goggles... you could have found a cure for nappy rash or the common cold or something like that.

Did you try dipping the nappies in alcohol

FlameNFurter · 08/01/2008 20:59

I tried dipping me in alcohol - does that count?

OP posts:
nappyaddict · 08/01/2008 22:43

does dipping them in alcohol actually work? sounds expensive!!

nappyaddict · 08/01/2008 22:46

oh btw have you tried just putting a nappy on at home with no wrap so it is more breathable and you can change it as soon as you see it is wet then just use fleece wraps for when out and about cos they are more breathable and hopefully won't irritate him as much?

FlameNFurter · 09/01/2008 09:46

Yup We're now doing whichever nappy he chooses, or no nappy at all where possible.

Dipping in alcohol was a joke (although scientifically it would probably kill off lots of bugs so could have a good basis...)

if you can guess roughly when he is likely to wee you could try him in cloth trainer pants and then sit him on the potty when you think he might way and then he might start recognising himself when he is likely to wee iyswim?

MozzybearBaileysIce · 09/01/2008 12:24

I honestly can't believe there are any bugs living in those nappies after all you've put them through!

You could keep one nappy as a test subject and if we have any more crazy ideas, you could try them.

FlameNFurter · 09/01/2008 17:27

He is just bare bummed most of the time now, I am catching wee when I can

AW poor Flame
My dd had unexplained cloth nappy rash for a couple of months and then just as I was starting to think I'd have to give up it suddenly went

MozzybearBaileysIce · 09/01/2008 20:26

I think you've got a naturalist on your hands

bagpuss · 09/01/2008 20:33

Poor you flame. I can't think of anything more wacky and inventive than you've already tried tbh. You could always use weenees which are a kind of half way house between cloth and sposies. Lollipop have them, I was looking earlier and thought that they might be good for holidays and the like.

nappyaddict · 06/02/2008 22:56

have you tried silk liners?
