Husband just got pinged - should he keep away from 7 week old?

My husband has just been pinged by the nhs track and trace app to say he’s been in contact with someone who’s tested positive.

He is okay, no symptoms and he’s done a lft and it’s negative.

We have a 7 week old and have said that he should perhaps keep his distance for the next few days (sleeping in spare room, working upstairs) just in case he gets it. We are both triple vaccinated.

Do you think we’re over reacting? I just really don’t want out me daughter to get it and as I’m ebf me neither. Would you just go about things as normal unless he tests positive on a lft or continue for him to keep his distance?

He doesn’t have covid so I would crack on as normal and delete the app. I didn’t even know it still existed, it was never fit for purpose and it’s just giving you stress.

ShirleyPhallus · 04/03/2022 10:50

If he doesn’t have covid then I wouldn’t stay away

Redcrayons · 04/03/2022 10:52

I probably would as the baby is so young.

Is he the last remaining user of the app?

I'd just carry on as usual.

CagneyNYPD1 · 04/03/2022 10:56

In almost any other circumstance, I would say crack on as normal. But with such a young baby, it would be wise to be a bit careful at this point.

GeneLovesJezebel · 04/03/2022 10:56

I would ignore it.
Lots of scam texts about.

SpinningTheMoon · 04/03/2022 11:27

I'd double-check it was even real. DH got a supposed ping this morning. Wracking our brains to think where it could have been as we've not been out much the last few days. Looked at the text again and realised the sender didn't match any of the messages from when we actually all had covid a while ago - blatant scam text.

CustardGoodJamGoodMeatGood · 04/03/2022 11:34

I didn't even realise people still used the app as it isn't required to isolate when you're a contact or even at all anymore. I'd just carry on as you were.

headspin10 · 04/03/2022 11:58

I would keep a distance for a few days and then lat flow again just to be safe.

Hiddenvoice · 04/03/2022 12:03

I’d keep my distance for a few days. Just because he’s negative now doesn’t mean he won’t develop symptoms within the next few days.
Maybe give it 48-72 hours and see how he is.
My friend had a negative result in the morning, still felt fine but to relax her family took another test in the evening and was positive. Her symptoms then came on a few days later.

Think you need to do what’s best for you and the baby!

Just tell him to stop using the stupid app! Everyone else ditched it 12+ months ago (if they ever actually used it in the first place).

Jellywellyfish · 04/03/2022 12:13

Thanks everyone. It wasn’t a text it was actually through the app, and someone in the same meeting who my husband works with also got pinged so we’re sure it’s legit.

I think we will be cautious and have him lft every day and sleep in another room at night for the next few nights.

I’m not sure what this would achieve? Surely it’s a good thing we know he’s been exposed and we’re in a position to decide how we go about protecting our 7 week old daughter?
