I would start by seeing if there is a nappy library near you. They are often run by breastfeeding groups/sling groups etc. Then you can try out a whole range very cheaply. My local nappy library is £15 for 6 weeks and you can ask for all different ones to try out.

I like Little Love Bum and Mother ease ones, they fit my dc the best but there are so many out there it’s trial and error really.

I like all in ones as they are easy, and I can boost them with bamboo if needed for extra absorbency. Pockets are good and cheap and you can mix and match what you put in them but I find stuffing them a faff. Two parters are much more absorbent but very bulky on the whole

I would recommend using disposable ones until your dc is about 3 months, partly because you’ll be so exhausted the last thing you want to do is wash nappies, and partly because newborn clothes nappies are a pain and expensive for how long they get used.

Check out Facebook groups to buy second hand when you know what you like and for all sorts of support and help

Don’t be swayed to buy the current ‘name’ as there always seems to be one brand which people go mad for and are usually then mega pricy and not always the best anyway.

I’m using cloth for my second which did my first for 2 years and were mostly bought second hand so they do last well and are more economical in the long run. I’m happy to answer any other questions you may have if you like?

I tried a lot but really like the Peachi and Baby Bare ones best - one size fits most, 8 lb to potty, all in two nappies (so quicker drying, easy to boost, and can reuse the outer layer until it gets dirty). They're both slim fitting and sized like a pair of pants, whereas I found a lot of the others to be too big and bulky. They're also easy to put on, like a disposable.

Peachi are gorgeous but £20 each. Baby Bare have a sale and a multi buy discount, so about £11 a pair roughly.
