My DC is 2 years old and we try to minimise the time spent on TV.

On weekends we may watch some cocomelon songs for 30' and that's it.

A friend recently told me that her DS (also 2 years old) loves Moana! But how is this possible?

Can a 2 year old understand and stay concentrated to watch such a long movie?

What do your 2 year old kids watch on TV and for how long do you let them watch TV?

I don't know what is best and whether my DC should be more into these things...

At the moment it's all about ba ba black sheep and row row your boat in our home and that's it!

It’s best to download a few episodes of programmes mentioned here and see what they like.

Our 16 nth old granddaughter loves Peppa Pig, Mr Tumble and Hey Dougie. I look after her two days a week and I do pop the TV on as I’m knackered by about 2pm. She sits in my knee and we both have a quiet half hour watching the TV.

We're one of the houses that have TV on in the background all day and it's always Cbeebies unless DD asks for a film (we have some disney dvds that she sometimes grabs or Disney +)

I stick with cbeebies because no adverts and it's mostly good stuff, DD loves numberblocks and alphablocks. Bluey (obvs) and go jetters. She hardly ever watch a full episode (except bluey) but glances up every now and then from whatever else shes doing.

I'd stick to cbeebies too. There are some lovely slow paced TV shows that teach good values on there are already mentioned - Bluey, Jojo and Gran Gran etc. Cocomelon is very fast paced and I personally find it very annoying 🤣

Thanks All for the advice!

I tried this morning for 10min Cbeebies channel on TV (202) and she got so upset.... Confused

She was not interested and just wanted again to watch the cocomelon nursery rhyme ba ba black sheep and wheels on the bus!

I guess I can't force her watch an episode if she is not in the mood and prefers rhymes...

TV isn’t obligatory and if she’s not feeling it then that’s fine. That said, mine definitely wouldn’t want to watch a random CBeebies programme that was probably part way through either… so I don’t think that’s at all unusual. If do you want to try again maybe do Netflix and try an episode of Bluey, Paw Patrol, whatever but from the start. Or not, she doesn’t have to watch these things!!

CBeebies is the best. I wouldn't rush into getting your 2yo to watch films tbh but that's just my personal bugbear- I think it's loads of TV for little ones and also if you have a sensitive one these films with loads of drama and emotion can upset them in ways you don't expect.

My nearly 5 yo got into Frozen at about 3/4 but even now refuses to watch a lot of the Disney ones she finds too scary and hard to follow. She would never have had the attention span to watch them at just 2 anyway.

CBeebies is vaguely educational and nice. Very wholesome.
