1 year immunisation

So many babies I know seem to have gotten really poorly (vomiting, temperature, off their food for days) after these immunisations and I feel really anxious about booking them in

The last vaccinations we went for the nurse was telling me "just wait, the one year ones are awful"

I get very anxious about these kinds of things because my daughter became ill when she was 10 weeks and we ended up in hospital. Before I just accepted that she might have a temp but we would pull through, I can't explain to you how hard I find taking her to the doctors to be injected now. I have sleepless nights leading up to it and then afterwards I feel frightened when she gets a temperature, I'm so scared of her getting sick again.

Please could you talk me through what happened with your children so I can get my head around it?

I am planning on booking them today

Hi, I was anxious too but it really was ok. The thing to remember is that it's over and done with very quickly and you're in the hands of a professional.

The baby will cry and that is upsetting for any parent but they'll get over it after a big cuddle. Follow the nurse's instructions it will be done before you know it. Hold your emotions in until the injections are all finished.

Book it and try not think about it. Look at all the 1 year olds when you're out and about - they've been through it and are fine. You're doing a good thing and protecting them.

As for side affects, Calpol is your friend. You tend to only hear the bad things as if baby doesn't have symptoms people don't talk about it. You might find they are tired and sleep very well that night.

You've got this.
