Period pants

My daughter is 11, she has quiet heavy periods and bleeds on to her pants every day. I am looking at period pants. I have no idea where to start. There are so many out there, ranging in different prices. Some say that you have to use a sanitary towel or tampon with them, others don't. Can anyone recommend a brand.

Hi, My 11 year old daughter has been using period pants for the last two months since starting her periods and she's finding that they work really well. The best thing is that they last for the whole school day so she doesn't have to worry so I definitely recommend them. I bought Wuka and Cheeky Wipes and both are good. Having said that, I'm going to get her a few more pairs and will get the Cheeky Wipes because they were cheaper and just as good/comfortable.

Thank you. I will have a look.

I just came on to ask the exact same question OP.

My 13 year old started her periods this week and they are already heavy. We have good Bodyform pads but we already have numerous pairs of pants in soak due to leaks.

What are the most effective brand that also pass as looking ok when getting changed for sport at school? I’ve seen lots of adverts for Modibodi Red (teen range). She wears an women size 12 in clothes though so should I get teen or adult?

Do I just buy one pair and see if she likes them then buy a good few more if she does. They are not cheap and I don’t mind investing in them if she is going to use them but she needs to try them first.

Does she need a special bag to store used ones in until they can be washed? What do people use?

We got the modibodi ones, dear but they seem to work well. She uses pads too on days one and two for extra security then doesnt bother after that. She finds them much better

We've used the Primark ones and they've never leaked. M and S also sell them.

My daughter started wearing these about a month ago . Very heavy periods were leaking through everything. We have started on the primark ones 3 for £12 I think . She liked them , we will carry on with them , maybe the need for more expensive ones , maybe no , we'll stock with them for now , time will tell but at the moment they work for her and she was wearing maxi tampons and a night pad at the same time leaking through them both , shes 13

Cheeky wipes have a 25% off sale tomorrow and Monday. They are pretty reasonable anyway and work well on their own or as backup with a tampon or towel

We have Modibodi Red, DD prefers the shorts style. The age 12-14 is probably the equivalent of an adult size 6, I'd say.

I'd start with one pair and go from there. DD can last all day at school in the Modibodi so no need to change (the toilets are unisex so this was the main consideration), she puts them in a wash bag at home and then I rinse them out, then wash in the machine every 2-3 days. She's got 12 pairs now but I bought gradually over 2 years and waited for 20% discount offers.

I use Modibodi at nighttime and they’re good for about 8 hours on a heavy night. Pricey but I’d probably go with that option if she needs to wear them for school

Modibodi are fantastic. I’ve tried the other (cheaper) brands and they’re incomparable. Look after them and they will last. They do a specific teen range as well.

Thank you. We will be ordering a pair from Modibodi today.
