8 year old's back, i know they can but he had decent dose of chicken pox when he was 4- what else could this be? Always a Saturday! He's very well, not itchy at all, and only noticed by accident . He's woken with a sore foot too but think that's unrelated.

Yep they look like they could be the pox. My DS1 had them twice. Once at 8 weeks and again at 9 years.

I had it twice too. Hope he's ok with it. Ds recently had it and was very itchy one night and had a fever for 14 days but apart from no appetite he was fine. Nothing like when dds had it and were properly poorly.

I had it 3 or 4 times as a kid unfortunately, you don't always get immune to it when you have it

After despairing at how many time my 4dc each caught chicken pox, my GP explain that most people become immune to all strains after catching it once, but some people only become immune to the strain they had.

So from the pics, i think it must be. If it is, they'll scab over i guess. There's no itching, no illness.
