Baby's age in weeks or months?

My baby was born on the 24th October. So is she 4 months today, or is she 17 weeks? 🤔

Both I guess! Think I started thinking in months after about 12 weeks, no idea how many weeks they are now at 9 monthsish

Figgygal · 24/02/2022 15:20

I used weeks until 6 months then used months
You hear some people saying 19 months, 27 months, 33 months which is just silly

Justkeeppedaling · 24/02/2022 15:20

Weeks are used when the baby is tiny, as a week makes a big difference in it's development.
As the baby gets older - I'd say around 4-6 months, we move to counting in months, and eventually we just count in years.

I counted in weeks until 4 months, then in months until about 18 months, then in half years, more or less.

They're 4 months and also 17½ weeks old. Use whichever you want.

Weeks for 1st few months then on to months up to 2 years. Whatever after that, I often can't get the right name for our kids so getting the right year is a win 🤣

Phormiumjester · 24/02/2022 16:45

I don't suppose it matters. If you were talking to me and you said it in weeks, I'd immediately need to convert it to months to make sense in my head!

If i was talking about someone else's baby, I wouldnt be precise enough to use weeks. Unless they were under 8 weeks I guess.

Strokethefurrywall · 24/02/2022 16:50

I counted in weeks until 12 weeks, then months until about 18 months, then said nearly 2, then half years after that.
People who talk in months until their kid is 3 make me heavily eye roll.

DoucheCanoe · 24/02/2022 16:53

Weeks until about 3 months.

I was too sleep deprived to remember or calculate weeks by then 🤣

RandomQuest · 24/02/2022 16:55

Both are correct but beyond a certain point, I’d reckon about 3 months old, using weeks sounds a bit silly unless you’re talking to a medical professional of course.

SoupDragon · 24/02/2022 16:57

I counted in weeks until I forgot how many it was and then switched to months 😂

DappledThings · 25/02/2022 16:10

Hours till 24 hours
Days till 2 weeks
Weeks till 3 months
Months till 2 years
Years from then.

That's how I do it!

@FennecShandDoesEverything

I counted in weeks until 4 months, then in months until about 18 months, then in half years, more or less.
This is also what I basically did (depending on context - GP had a more exact age given than a random person on the bus who was cooing over them)
