Birthdays make me emotional

My eldest turned 7 yesterday. For thr first time she had to go to school. The whole day felt different to rhe previous 6 years. But I also laid in the bath thinking how I may only have a year or 2 left where she is this innocent little girl wanting a doll and safe at home and too young for phones and technology.

It feels like its hitting me since my youngest turned 4 at Christmas that they are growing up really quickly. The toddler years are over.

I just feel so emotional about life. It could be that I also separated from their dad and feel now I'm not with them as much.

Does anyone else feel like this.

It’s understandable. Flowers

But I always think about now lucky I am to see them grow up.

Think, just for a minute, about the alternative. Some parents do actually have to deal with that - and that always reminds me of how lucky I am (touch wood).

I get to see them every day, turning into these people who I really, genuinely like, and love spending time with.

My youngest is 11, and she’s still the same girl. Sure, she’s getting older. But she’s still a girl. Still needs guidance. And I know that will change. But it’s meant to. That’s a good thing.

My eldest just hit the teen years, and he’s as delightful as he’s ever been.

Wallowing in the passing years is, with kindness, a boring waste of time. There’s too much enjoyment to be had in making the most of them growing up.
