12 month old still having milk at night

LO is still waking in the night for milk.

Long story short (so as not to drop feed) he has always been horrific when it comes to drinking milk, he has Cmpa which has only recently been diagnosed so we are now using SOYA based products.
Since the new diet he has been doing so much better and will happily have 5oz a time (as opposed to 2-3oz) and is much more relaxed drinking it.
My only thing is he now wakes at least once in the night and has a full 5oz. I've tried water with no luck.

His routine is as follows:

4am (ish) - 4-5oz milk
6am - 5oz milk and wheetabix/porridge
9am - snack and water
Nap 1hr
11am- 4-5oz milk followed by lunch at about 11.30am.
1.30pm - water before nap 1hr 30mins
3pm - 5oz milk and snack
5pm - tea with water
6pm-6.30pm - bath
6.30pm - 4oz milk and half and wheetabix
7pm ish - bed
He eats really well for all meals and snacks, he has soya yougurts and bread, pasta, potatoes etc.

I just physically can't cram anymore in him during the day but he still wants the milk at night and has what I class as a full amount. He wont take anymore during the day and I do add soya milk to foods.

Has anybody any suggestions?

Oh and he's gone from 9th centile to 25th centile recently (length is 91st centile).

Thanks in advance.

What sort of soya milk are you using as not all are high enough in protein/fat, etc

There is an alpro 1+ soya milk for that age group that is fortified.

Does he eat much protein as that can help keep him fuller for longer

Is that unusual? My 11 month old still has a feed at 10/11 (often both) then wakes at 3/4 for another then up at 6. She eats loads in the day too. I just thought it was par for the course, DD2 was the same, worse actually

Put him to bed a little later and give him a protein heavy last meal. It may take a week or so to work though!

My 8monty old eats more than your LO during the day and has a lot more milk. Doesn’t sound unusual to me, babies have milk till they are almost 2.. of course babies are all different

Can I ask why your LO isn’t eating more regular foods? My baby eats almost everything we eat, rice, potatoes, pasta, veg, meats, eggs…

caringcarer · 21/02/2022 14:54

I would offer a 11pm feed then baby may sleep through until 6am. As your baby is having a growth spurt it is not unusual to want more nourishment.

@dementedpixie - yep the alpro one with the giraffe on it to add into family meals and we were recommended to continue sma wysoy for his milk drinks.

He does eat a lot of protein, chicken, eggs etc.

@BigPurpleEgg HV was shocked he was still having a milk feed during the night and suggested the water. Considering he should be a lot heavier than he is (considering his length) i just thought it odd that she suggested it and wondered if it was a but unusual. So I'm glad you're LO is doing the same.

@Littlemissprosecco @caringcarer thank you for those suggestions I will try those tonight and see if we can improve.

@Meg2021 he does eat everything we do, just not milk products Smile has 3 big meals and 3 decent snacks through the day. Due to a difficult start he lost a lot of weight at birth and I didn't improve due to the allergies (something we've had a huge battle with) so he can only handle bits at a time at the moment but has the same sized portions as my 3 year old Grin

Health visitors are funny creatures, I wouldn't take too much notice of them. Some are fab and some talk absolute nonsense. You know best what your little one needs
