Too windy to drive?

I live in Devon and would usually make the 15 minute drive down the a38 to the grandparents for them to look after my 2 yr old on Fridays and Mondays. On Friday it was too dangerous (red warning with up to 90mph gusts) and me & my toddler stayed at home.

Tomorrow is yellow warning with up to 50mph gusts predicted. Is this still too dangerous to drive?

Is there a train? Have there been cars blown off that road by wind? If so, I would think it would be shut. Unless you a driving a very tall, large sided van, I'd say take it easy but leave more time to get there.

Well im driving to work tomorrow in that weather but if I didnt have to then id be staying at home....so is it necessary to take the kids to the grandparents or is it a nice to do?

Unless you're driving an articulated lorry I'm sure you will be fine, can't say I noticed a difference to the handling of my car (large SUV) during the wind.

What silly comments re cars being safe in the wind.
Cars do not blow off the road .
But ……
Things fall on cars in high winds.
Where I live yellow warning on Friday a lorry turned over on an A road and landed in a car - completely crushing it. A tree fell on a car too.
Unless it’s essential don’t travel.
