When did you put baby in their own room?

Exactly that really. DD1 was 6 months. Because of a mixture of apprehension of DD2 waking DD1 and vice versa, DD2 is still with us at 7.5 months. We don't plan to have more kids so also think we might be holding on for longer than we should as it seems a step away from needing us quite so much!

So, how long did your babies sleep
In your room? Are DH and I batshit?

3 days!

looklikeanelephant · 20/02/2022 15:20

DD 18 months
DS 2 years but honestly he still gets into bed with me regularly now and he's getting on for 6

RedRobin100 · 20/02/2022 15:21

5 months.
It was time.
For both our sakes.

15 months

5 months, if it wasn’t for being away for a few weeks we would have moved at about 4.

Wasn’t concerned about SIDS, the reality is the risk goes down massively as time goes on and I don’t really feel like being in the same room regulated their breathing at all considering the white noise was so loud anyway. There isn’t some magical SIDS cut off at 6 months vs 4/5.

Both my son and daughter moved in their own room at 2 months old. Everyone slept better and I did what was best for all of us. X

Mamabear04 · 21/02/2022 10:05

Started putting DD down in our bedroom for evening sleep/naps when possible by herself (with camera on) from 3.5months and then moved her to her own room at 6.5 months

shivawn · 21/02/2022 22:52

My baby is only 4 months now but I plan on moving him at 6 months because he is such a light sleeper.

MyDcAreMarvel · 21/02/2022 23:11

2 nearly 3 years old. Could never put a little baby in their own room.

WoMandalorian · 21/02/2022 23:48

DD was 4 years old when she stopped coming in every night! 😅 our bedroom has a bed for each child though so they're not in our bed, just in the same room. Do whatever is best for you 😊

mobear · 21/02/2022 23:51

DC is 16 months and still with us. We’re lucky that have a generously sized bedroom so the cot doesn’t get in the way.!

RoseValleyRambles · 21/02/2022 23:56

@crimesean I've been struggling to find a reference to the breathing regulation thing. Is there a study/book it's mentioned in you could share? Google is failing me.

mrsfollowill · 22/02/2022 00:01

7 weeks - it was 20 years ago to be fair-He got too big for the moses basket next to the bed - used to wake up because he was all 'crunched up' at the top of if. Put him in the 'big cot' in his room and he slept so much better. Our house is small- bedroom doors all open and we could hear him breathing-was a noisy little thing at night! (and I suppose he could hear us!) Only co-slept if ill/nightmare etc but generally I think you all disturb each other when in the same room.

AnnaSW1 · 22/02/2022 00:01

When they were 3

foreverandalways · 22/02/2022 00:16

From the first day home from hospital after birth

GibbonsGoatsGibbons · 22/02/2022 00:21

12 years old Grin

ToniLaRoni · 22/02/2022 00:38

3 years. No rush. They slept well in with us.

Hugasauras · 22/02/2022 00:54

DD is 3 and still in there! DD2 is due later this year so I think DD will probably decide on her own that she doesn't want to be in a room with a noisy baby without any prompting from us!

Hugasauras · 22/02/2022 00:55

I will say that we did move her around six months for a short period. But none of us really liked it much so she came back Grin

RedToothBrush · 22/02/2022 08:26

Age 4. For numerous reasons. Problems sleeping being one of them. Only child.

They probably link to the studies. Lullaby trust is the best source of safe sleep info.

The risk of SIDS is highest up to 4 months, then drops, then drops again at 6 months.

I moved mine into their own rooms at 13 months and 15 months, once I’d stopped bf during the night.

Cookerhood · 22/02/2022 09:12

Mine are in their 20s but DC1 at 10 days as I couldn't sleep & the other two as soon as I got home from hospital. Things change.

RoseValleyRambles · 22/02/2022 13:04

Thanks @threeballons! Will take a look.
