Toddler tower trouble

Hi everyone,

My 2yo DS was given a toddler tower (at our request) for his birthday by my parents. He's had it two weeks, and I really regret it. He's able to move it around the (small, galley style) kitchen, and he's just into everything I need him not to be. I can't so much as leave the washing up to dry on the side without it ending up all over the floor. I'm amazed nothing's been broken yet. He's also got really obsessed with water play in the sink, which is wasting huge amounts of water and he will spill huge amounts all over the floor, and it goes into the cupboard under the sink too.

I wanted him to have the tower so we could cook and wash up without him clinging to our legs and shouting because he couldn't join in, but it's ended up being way more of a liability. Anyone got any helpful suggestions? I'm at my wit's end. We've no loft or shed or anywhere it can be put away for a few months.

Thanks.

Sounds like one he can climb into himself?Perhaps consider selling it and buying one like the little helper funpod where they have to be lifted in?

Stairgate on the kitchen doorway so you can work in there without him and keep him away from the cooker.

Or if you can’t/don’t want to sell…could you attach some material/MDF or something so he can’t climb up himself?

Can he open stair gates? I would put one of the extra high ones across the kitchen door so he can’t go in there without you. It would be safer anyway, my eldest used to turn the oven on so we had a stair gate to keep him out.

Store it on its side, it will probably take him a while to right it.

You can put water in these and it just goes back through the tap. Keep him occupied?

That's genius @WeAllLikeVindaloo, thank you!

Can you put a stairgate on so that access to the kitchen is controlled?
