Do side sleepers work with all beds?

This may be a silly question!
I’m pregnant with DD2 and we got rid of the crib we used for DD1 as we didn’t like it. I was thinking about a next to me/side sleeper type crib but our bed has a relatively wide frame. As in, the wooden bit down the side of the bed is wide, I’d say just over the width of an iPhone.
Maybe I’ve misunderstood how the side sleeper cribs work but can they work on these kinds of beds, if the crib can’t get up flush to the bed? Or does it go higher so the bottom of the crib is level with the bed frame?

Or is it just a no-go with this bed type?

I couldn’t get the Next2Me to work with our divan bed as I couldn’t get it flush to the side of the bed due to the way the feet are positioned. However we had no issue with the snuzpod. Do you have a local baby shop where they have them on display so you can take a look in person?

They don't work with an IKEA malm or similar as the frame is too wide. I did a bit of research before my daughter was born and found the advice is no gaps between the side sleeper crib and your mattress, they both have to be on the same level and you can't bridge the gap with anything additional as it's a suffocation risk.

We still bought a Snuzpod and loved it. We kept the side zipped up at night unless I need to reach in to comfort her. It was brilliant to be able to sleep right next to her but also know she was safe in her own space. I still had to reach in and lift her out when it was time to feed her though.

Thanks. The only shop nearby that would have any is John Lewis but when we’ve been in they only have one. We will go and have a proper look at it though.

It is similar to a Malm - it was DH’s before he met me so not sure exactly what it is but having had a look online I’d say the frame is similar to that so maybe it’s a no go.

They don't work with all beds. Our bed was too high and had a wide wooden frame. You need to have the babys mattress on the same level as yours, and flush against it.
