Can't get hold of usual formula

looloo247 · 14/02/2022 17:29

I cannot get hold of our usual formula anywhere, and am down to the last half a box.
Any opinions on whether it would be better to use the stage 2 follow on of the same brand or a different brand? Baby is 9 months old.
Thanks x

If it’s Aptamil, then try C&G. They were identical when my dc were babies (youngest is 10).

ChittyBangs · 14/02/2022 17:34

What is it you use?

Follow on's aren't needed. Just change brand.

Have you tried Amazon, their own website? Checked stock lists?

KylieCharlene · 14/02/2022 17:35

We always used SMA. Couldn't siurce it one day and bought C&G.
DC had terrible reflux anyway and I believe this change in formula resulted in an emergency trip to A&E. I firmly believe it.
Stick to the same brand OP.

It's Hipp organic. Have tried all local supermarkets and Amazon. Their website has some on which I've ordered but don't think it will arrive in time before I run out.

It won’t matter to change formula for a while. Might get a bit of an upset belly but at 9 months, they are having solids so it should be ok to just switch formula temporarily

ChittyBangs · 14/02/2022 17:40

Don't know how it works but Ocado have it.
Waitrose and boots.
I wouldn't normally tend to check these tbh

PolytheneRam · 14/02/2022 17:40

We used whatever we could get hold of (born 2020 so there were supply issues) and switched between brands frequently with no ill-effect at all.

Lockdownmummy · 14/02/2022 17:48

Personally I would stick to the same brand and use stage 2. Yes, it is an unnecessary product created by the formula companies but it will be virtually the same as stage 1 (and probably cheaper....)

COL1N · 14/02/2022 18:03

Definitely stick to same brand follow on!

Chely · 14/02/2022 18:55

Try the follow on milk.

Our baby is 6mth and I have moved her from stage 1 to stage 2 hipp organic as it us often on offer and out of stock less often.

Thiswayorthatway · 14/02/2022 19:06

Follow on is a waste of money and not needed nutritionally at all. Just switch brand.

LittleBearPad · 14/02/2022 19:11

At 9 months I’d use follow on. I know it’s a marketing gimmick yada yada yada!

looloo247 · 14/02/2022 19:19

Thanks everyone, have managed to get hold of some of the ready made bottles which she doesn't like too much but am going to mix them in the Hope it makes it last until delivery day!

The follow on milk (2) is also out of stock everywhere. I got the last 2 my local waitrose had after trying 2 different Morrisons stores, sainsburys, 2 different Boots stores plus website, and Amazon. Very frustrating and I guess I will just have to choose one that my local shop stocks in the meantime.

The ready made milk smells awful, I object to that more than the cost of it Envy (not envy)

glasshalfsomething · 14/02/2022 21:00

Switch to follow on. It may not be much different but ships are allowed to offer discounts/points etc on stage 2 milk so you can save some cash!

SaltySocks · 14/02/2022 22:37

I was going to ask if it's hipp organic as ice been really struggling to get that for months. Morrison's online had it in stock last week if that helps.
