What's up with hipp organic infant formula?

Why isn't it available anymore? It's really difficult to get hold of these days. Morrison's is always sold out...has been for months. Same in my local Sainsbury's and asda and ocado. Last week finally found it in the third Sainsbury's I went to in my town.

I am guessing Brexit?

BunnyRuddington · 12/02/2022 10:11

There's a thread going on about this on the Infant Feeding. Apparently Hipp have said it's a direct result of Brexit.

Mine are past the baby milk stage but if I was going through this I'd be onto my MP.

Chely · 12/02/2022 10:37

The stage 1 is often out of stock but I do tend to stay a couple of boxes ahead which gives me time to get more in. We were hit with the shortages and 2 packs limit with our twins when China had a formula safety crisis years ago.

Our baby is 6mth now so I have moved on to the stage 2 as it's out of stock less often. Morrisons is the best for good stock levels here.

There's quite a few Facebook groups where people donate and sell breastmilk.

Bluemamma · 12/02/2022 20:29

Strangely it is the same in Ireland… hipp organic is never is any supermarkets any more! Very hard to come by.

Yes, because buying untested and unscreened breastmilk off Facebook is safer than switching to a different formula for a week or two Hmm

Oh deal lord 😂 yes, let me go get some breast milk from a random stranger of Facebook marketplace. Ok I heard it all now.
Taenia · 13/02/2022 21:27

We were having the same problem with finding it for our 10 week old DD too. Every drop in this town and the next town were out of stock for two weeks, even the HIPP website didn't have any I could buy. I did manage to find a multi pack on amazon though to help me..

Our local morrisons when I asked about it had removed it from their shelves permanently and were not ordering anymore in at all.

It's not just been hipp though, at one point there were no stage one in any brand in our local supermarket

NCfortoday2021 · 13/02/2022 21:39

Have you ordered it online? You can get four boxes at a time from their website (from Germany I think?)

Dear God she’s not that bloody desperate! 🙄
namesyn · 14/02/2022 10:12

No idea why people are so offended at buying breast milk.

I donated during the pandemic when there was none available.

Drinking human milk for human babies, God forbid.

Ursusmajor · 14/02/2022 10:44

@namesyn because lack of regulation? How do you know the breastmilk you buy off a stranger on Facebook hasn’t been watered down will cows milk? How do you know it has been collected and stored in clean conditions and that it hasn’t been thawed and refrozen. I’m a huge breastfeeding advocate. I think hospital organized breastmilk donation for the neonatal unit is a fantastic thing. I would have donated but wasn’t eligible. And I still think you’re way out of line for suggesting OP could buy breastmilk off Facebook instead of using another brand of formula.

This.
And also how do you know that the person that donated the milk doesn’t smoke, drink etc?
It’s the craziest suggestion I’ve ever heard but and it made me laugh… I actually didn’t even know people do that on Facebook :))
In hospital - yes but that’s another story

How am I out of line please?

I've never used formula but I've seen parents say that they can only use one particular brand / type as the others don't agree with their child.

If it's as easy as buying a different brand then surely OP can do that without suggestions? Confused

People were eating horse meat sold as chicken. There's tons of food recalls, glass in products, undeclared allergens. We take that risk every time we purchase food.
