6 month old has suddenly become unputdownable

Till recently ds was a super easy going and cheerful baby. Went to bed easily, woke up only once in the night and happily played whenever plonked him down on the floor.

Suddenly he just wants to be carried all the time. If I put him down he starts crying immediately. He also cries when I put him in his cot for his naps or at night.

I'm not sure if this is normal developmentally. Do babies develop Separation anxiety at 6 months or could it be a growth spurt or teething or something?

The only thing that has changed is that in he started solids a couple of weeks ago and might be slightly constipated.

he could be feeling unwell and wants comfort. think carefully about diet / sleep / etc.

Yes this is totally normal, my daughter goes through these phases of separation anxiety and I know other peoples babies do too.

Just respond to him and he'll get through it quicker. It won't last forever.

Yeah it's normal. My son was attached to my hip for awhile.

Normal time for it to develop. Lots of reassurance and peek a boo, small periods of nipping out the room and coming back quickly etc. They suddenly understand you're separate to them but don't quite understand object permanence ie they don't know that you still exist even if they can't see you.

Oh ok thanks everyone.

Dd5 has been at home self isolating for a few days (and monopolising me) so I thought it may be a response to feeling a bit neglected as in: "Yes, I know I'm an easy baby but now you are just taking the piss, mummy!!"

I wonder if it's constipation. He just keeps waking up tonight. He used to poo at least once a day bit since starting solids it's reduced. When he does poo it's not hard Pellets but it's drier and more compact. Less liquidy. Does that sound normal?

Sounds like constipation. When my little one gets constipated his bowels go like that then the rock hard ones come next. We give him prunes from Ella's kitchen...works well along with the vibration of the bouncy chair😂🙈
