Is my house too small for another baby?

I've got a two bedroom end terrace DD is 12mo, love where we live and there's barely anything on the market in our price range

We have a small Labrador and two cats as well. Downstairs is lounge and kitchen (both good size) and a conservatory that we use as a boot room/utility area

We keep on top of clutter and DD doesn't have heaps and heaps of toys, just two baskets and a Walker and we try to get rid of some old toys when she gets something new

Second bedroom is 12ft x 10ft so in my mind I thought eventually they could share. Atm DD is still in with us though

What do you think?

Of course I wouldn't say no to a bigger house but don't really have the money to go much bigger than what we have tbh!

Fine

Fine when they are little, but eventually you will need somewhere bigger - certainly by secondary school they’ll need space for homework etc, so have a plan.

Short term ok

Two teenagers, or even a bit younger will be difficult in that space. And if you have different sexes they can only share for so long.

What is your long term plan?

I'd struggle with the size tbh. As they get older the toys get bigger too. It's fine for them to share a room though.

We’re having DC2 in a similar set up - no dog but one cat, decent sized bedroom (12x10 second bed, 14x9 master). We will be moving by the time DC1 is school age but we figured that’s 2 years of them sharing, I got pregnant when DC1 was 12 months so there’ll be 21 months between them. We also have a back up plan of swapping rooms so we’re in the ‘square’ room and DC are in the oblong room with a divider between them if needed (two 7 x 9 spaces).

Slightly nervous about having 2 in a 2 bed but reminding myself that lots of people put two DC in together and it’s not like a 3 bed means DC2’s crying won’t disturb DC1 anyway!

Agree with others though, I wouldn’t do it unless we had a plan to move on. For us, a new mortgage will be doable once second DC is getting free hours at nursery, so that’s when we’ll be looking to move.

Thanks for your replies! I eventually want 3 children so we would need to move one way or another

My home is much, much smaller than that and I'm expecting my 2nd. We won't stay here long though. Your set up sounds fine.

A friend had 2 kids in a similar set up- but an even smaller 2nd bedroom. It wasn't even a square room, but a triangle! The younger one slept in a small bed in the parents bedroom till she was 5 and then moved out! Not idea at all, but they managed.

It sounds fine
