4mo- sleep regression? Colief side effects? At my wits end…

Hi all, my first baby was sleeping through the night from 2 months old and never had any sleep regressions. He was albo on colief since he was a few weeks and it changed him to a super happy baby- so worked wonders.
My now 4 mo is such a bad sleeper, the last few nights he wakes every 1,5-2 hours and will stay awake for an hour “singing” “balling” “talking” delighted with himself. He will eventually fall asleep only to wake in another hour wanting milk! I’ve been getting maybe 2-4 hours of very broken sleep I’m im lucky. Is this a sleep regression??
HV think he has lactose intolerance (eczema on face, bloated tummy, runny poos) so I started him on Colief which I thought will work wonders and I’m so disappointed:( his poor are looking more normal but he is straining a lot and farting - seems uncomfortable. I don’t know why as colief is amazing stuff:( we’ve been on it 3 days so far, should I continue or stop?
GP is useless and fibbed me off so not going there again. Advise of other mums is much more useful to me.
I’m just sleep deprived, tired, disappointed and sad.

Those symptoms sound more like an issue with cows milk protein than lactose which is the sugar in milk.

4 mo sleep regression is a killer; it's a change in how their brains work sleep wise and other new developmental stages. It's also a growth spurt and

Mine didn't have any allergies and still did it though just wanted milk. At its worst it was every 45 mins.

However the other symptoms could be milk allergy rather than lactose issues. BUT I'd be seeing a Gp about that as it could also be allergies to other things; washing powder etc. A friend's daughter had bad excema till they moved areas and she decided it was the water.

Milk is incredibly important at this stage so any allergy needs to be looked at with a dietitian/ dr etc

So what should I do about possible milk allergy? I agree with both of you that it looks like it but my GP absolutely refuses to treat it as such. Could you look at this picture and see if you think it’s milk allergy? @dementedpixie @Dinodora

Are you breast or formula feeding? I think you need to cut out all dairy (you if breastfeeding) or get a dairy free formula like neocate from GP if FF.
Coleif isn't going to make an allergy better.

About 40% of children who are allergic to milk are also allergic to soya so keep this in mind and stick to oat based replacements.

I’m formula feeding. The problem is that my GP refuses to treat it as any allergy. He says baby is gaining weight and is now 50centile (was 24 when he was born) so he says there is no problem.
He won’t prescribe dairy free milk as he says there is nothing worse than changing baby’s milk. It can only do more harm apparently. So I’m stuck:( I don’t even know if it’s an allergy…
