Seated buggy board with harness - Advice please

Hi All,

We are expecting DC2 when DC1 will be 2 years old.

I am considering a buggy board instead of a double buggy but only if I can strap DC1 on it.

The two boards I found are the:

  1. Roma Uptown Rider
  2. Easy X4 Rider

Do you have any comments on them? Any issues?

Would you advise a seated buggy board instead of a double buggy?

We live in a small city and we will mainly use it for the nursery run and occasionally for some walks.

What about a buggy pod instead?

FelicityBob · 01/02/2022 22:06

Absolutely no way, you need a double buggy 100%. 2 is way too young to go on a buggy board. They need rest/naps/a comfy chair and somewhere safe

Hopitihop · 01/02/2022 22:53

@Cheesewiz that’s interesting! Are the buggy pods for the smaller kids or the bigger one? I am asking as the seat looks smaller than the actual buggy seat and it is weird to have a 6month old in a proper seat and a 2.5 year old squished in a small one.

@FelicityBob my DC1 never napped at her pram/buggy anyway and she is now down to 1 nap anyway so I don’t think that napping is an issue. Then, in terms of safety, I am only considering ones that the kid can be strapped. Have you tried one and didn’t work? I just don’t want to get a double buggy for 6-8 months and then sell it…

Buy a 2nd hand Phil & Ted. The back seat is fab for years or to fill with shopping/all your day out stuff.

When it's wet, windy, cold a double is invaluable

FelicityBob · 02/02/2022 07:06

I had an 18 month gap between my two and bought an out n about nipper double which is hands down the best thing I ever bought so that’s why I say no way to a buggy board for a toddler that young. I used it for at least two years. They’re only a few hundred pound and you can buy second hand too

Hopitihop · 02/02/2022 07:26

Thank you all for the advice!

Yes, I love the out and about too but I don’t know if it is too bulky to have it from the very beginning when a newborn needs a bassinet.

Now I am rethinking about it, I believe maybe the best way forward is sling/buggy or trike/buggy until DC2 is 6 months old and can be seated and then re evaluate between double buggy and buggy board.

By then my DC1 will be 2.6 years old and the weather will be good enough in these first 6 months with two kids to use the trike if needed.

Does it sound sensible to you all or drama?

I found with a big buggy board that you have to stand so far back that it hurt my back.

FelicityBob · 02/02/2022 07:48

I used the nipper from birth, used a cocoon and laid it flat.
Wouldn’t have done that with my PBF though Blush

Incywinceyspider · 02/02/2022 08:05

I'm due in 3 weeks with baby number 2. DS is 2.4. I've got a second hand bugaboo donkey. Like you don't see us using it for long, which is why I went for second hand. I should be able to sell it for roughly the same amount I paid.

Ahhhhhbisto · 02/02/2022 08:23

I used a mclaren techno carrycot in the double nipper Blush that way baby was facing me and more enclosed. I secured it with the nipper seat straps through the handles

WhatNoRaisins · 02/02/2022 08:28

I didn't have any problems with a normal buggy board and a 2 year old but we did also have the option of a sling and 2 year old in the buggy. By 2 I'd assume you can work out when they will want to nap. Personally I couldn't face trying to manoeuvre a double.

FelicityBob · 02/02/2022 08:56

Oh also, just continuing my sales pitch for the out n about nipper double….
It’s by far the easiest pushchair to push with one hand that I’ve ever experienced, so even when your toddler is walking you’ll need to hold his hand which pushing baby in pushchair, which I found a piece of cake with the nipper and then the toddler can jump in when they’ve got tired legs or you’ve got busy streets or roads to navigate

Allpenguinsarepingus · 02/02/2022 09:06

I’d just go straight for a double buggy - perhaps one one of the smaller inline ones like Phil and Teds - so your eldest can hop in and out when she’s tired/wants a nap/wants to get out and explore. Buggy boards make steering and mounting curbs difficult. If you also need to be able to strap her in, a double will make your life easier.
