My little one has turned 6 months today and I was wondering what food that we eat could I blend up and give to him to start weaning him onto solids he's been having jar foods and pouches since 4/5 months which we got the all clear from health visitor and now with him being 6 months im wanting to put him onto our food and not sure where to start to do this...

What are some of things you eat? What dinners have you had in the past few weeks?
At that age, mine didn't have meals though. Just pureed fruit and veg.

Some days I have chips or an Sunday dinner with mash and vegetables, so I can give him banana and any fruit if I mash them up?

You’ve already started weaning, very early, at 4 months. The signs for readiness are
-able to sit up unaided
-able to pinch grip items and bring to mouth
-lost the tongue thrust reflex.
At 6 months, your baby can be weaned on to normal food, no need for mush. Avoid whole grapes and extra salt.

FYI you've already weaned your child. Too early but it's done now.

What's with all these weird health visitors giving the go ahead??

Firsttimemum1999 · 02/02/2022 11:19

Right no worries thank you, I have no idea herself give us the go ahead as he was where he should be with his weight and that milk wasn't filling him up he was only having porridge in morning and the a jar food in the evening but he was 4 and half months when he started and then when to see them again for him to be weighted she was happy with how he was and said to us to continue and then my son doctor as he was in the NICU told me to increase his weaning as she was happy with how he's getting on with his weight and he was only 5 months then

Milk has more calories than food, so it’s odd that the HV suggested giving him less calories. Best to take advice on your child’s lifelong gut health from a paediatrician than a HV, I’ve seen posts here where peoples HVs have given them decades discredited, or even dangerous ‘advice’.
